Quite honestly that's about as good as we could hope for if we're trying to get into Round 3.

But I wonder if we'll struggle again to clear 3000. I can't see them bringing many and it's not a game to appeal to the armchair fan, especially if it's moved from Saturday afternoon.

We've played Mansfield, Carlisle and Stevenage - and all 3 were better than us - so we need to improve a lot to get through.

This is the second banana skin in quick succession for Bruno & Smith, so they'd better be prepared.

As good a draw as we could hope for and no excuses really for not getting through. It will be good to see Billy Paynter back at the Vale again as long as he doesn't score. Bruno had better do a job with this one because I'd hate to see Norman's face if we fail to get the chance of a plum draw in the next round for the second year running. The writing would really then be on the wall!

We must treat Hartlepool with the utmost respect ,this is a massive game for them also .

Dont u think there players ,fans ,management want a big cup draw as reward if they beat us .

One things for sure our performance will have to be 1000 times better than sat .

Hopefully Foley Purkiss Jones and Forrester r back also Amoros wherever he has gone .

A few players contracts will be cancelled in the next few weeks or better still they will show us why they think they r good enough to play for Port Vale a club which was a cup giantkiller and brought fantastic memories which have not been apparent for far to long

Many ground staff work at both clubs (Vale and Stoke) so not possible to play on the same day.

Ah yes, our turn to switch this century i believe. On another note, will be good to see Billy Paynter return to Vale Park. Good player who always gave 100% and has gone on to have a decent career in the game.
