Pope confirms 3yr deal at Bury.

It makes me laugh how some fans are able to turn Pope's departure into a good thing and that it's just plain good business sense from NS.

Pope may not be the best player we've had but his leaving and the handling of it just shows what a ******* circus the Club is.

Pope hasn't helped that either... It's not just the chairman. But we will forget about that. Pope is a vale fan

One thing is for certain and this is he has not learnt his lesson from his nightmare time at Rotherham. More money doesn't mean he's going be happy and I feel it's going be the biggest mistake of his life.

He'll cry all the way to the bank.

I'm personally pleased for Tom--at this stage of his career to get a 3 year deal on presumably better terms is good for him and his family. I'd like to thank him for his contributions over the last few seasons. 'Saga' now over--let's all move on and hope that any saving made on salary can be put to use to strengthen the squad--and of course, hope that Tom doesn't score a hatful against us in the upcoming season!

Good luck to Tom, he achieved every supporters dream in playing for the club he supports. I loved his passion and love for the club and his season where he was on fire will long live in my memory. Sadly that form has declined and the decision he has made is the best one all round. I will applaud him when he returns with Bury but we move on and he will be replaced as others before have been.

Spot-on-let's hope all supporters can take a similar rational approach and drop the subject shortly.

All of those players left for more money than they were on at Vale. I doubt Bury are offering more than Popes current contract, just more than the 60% pay cut we offered. Still, why let facts get in the way of you being a ****.

So is it a fact he was offered a 60% pay cut? Also the other players weren't loyal life long fans were they?

I heard from a Crwho fan at work that Bury are paying Tom £6K a week, no idea where he got the info from but thought it was interesting that those sort of figures are being bandied about.

If that's true it's ridiculous and I'm glad we haven't competed. Surely can't be on 6k a week

Again id love to see where this trolling is....

I tripped myself up? How?

I made a point that Richards, JMW and hugill got berated on here for taking more money. Yet pope isn't, even though he who has been described as the most loyal vale player for years on here has done exactly the same. He has moved for money and hasn't been loyal and that's that.

Now where is the trolling?

Where was he described as that and by whom ?

I think your getting confused, Pope is a loyal and proud local lad who happened to have been lucky enough to play for his boyhood club

For me Im not expecting fellow Vale fans to fork out £ 75.00 for match day tickets just because they are Vale through and through, in the same way I do not expect Pope to stay at Vale just becasue he is a Vale fan and at the same time take a 60% pay cut.

A leftfield thought.... Pope, a Vale Fan, goes to Bury, which allegedly has connections to certain people with dodgy pasts. Bury are throwing money round and will likely be in certain financial difficulty in a couple of seasons. Tom will therefore do his best to ensure Bury finish below Vale and go into financial meltdown.

I'd say that was a huge sacrifice.

Well done Tom! :ninja:

Saddens me to see some of the comments on here.

All I know is Tom Pope pretty much singlehandedly made me proud to be a Vale fan again a few seasons ago. Not many have done that in recent years.

He goes with my very best wishes.

Only time will tell but I think both parties will be rueing the day that he left. I think Tom will struggle to play with the same passion as he always has when pulling on his Vale shirt.

In Vale's case I shall watch with interest who comes through the door to replace Pope's goals. At this moment I have no intention of renewing my ST and I know of plenty more who feel the same. If the club shows some ambition my money will be there ion a trice. If not I shall keep it in my pocket.

Before some slam my stance think about it why should the owner just expect us to roll up and hand over our cash regardless of the dross on the pitch? 50-40-30 years ago I was one of those who would have and did stump up my cash but as I grow older I realise that the onus is also on the owner to give us just a little hope.

As I see it we were poor 95% of last season and the likely loss of three of our best players tells me that unless the Smurthwaite stance alters then relegation is a nailed on certainty. I could weep at the way things are going on at the club I have watched for nearly 60 years.

It has always been the same horton got sold brooker went then it was im not going till bell goes there is always some excuse with some vale fans pope has been well paid for what he did for us live with it.The trouble is we cannot live beyond our means so saying you will not have a season ticket really helps the club does it not,and by the way i have been going vale longer than you and give me good health will always be there for the club i love even if it means watching dodds every week.
