Dead-end Streete?

Very annoyed to hear the Yatesy interview on radio Stoke talking about the possibility of playing at left back.

NO! Stick to giving Veseli and Robertson a go. Isn't CB where Veseli played for Bury? And I don't see why Robertson should be frozen out, yet Dickinson is considered for the CB position? We should try a different combination anyway - it's not like we kept a clean sheet, we let 4 in for goodness sake.

Our defence has been a calamity all season so although it would have been better to have Streete at the weekend our goals against tally probably won't be much different.

Completely agree, Yates has been excellent recently at Right back, keep him there. Give Robbo or Veseli a go.

Parent club in looking after their own affairs shocker! Risk you take with loan players, if there wasn't a recall clause you probably wouldn't get these players in the first place unfortunately....

Some clubs, some managers have morals. When Brooker was loaned to us many years ago, we were told we could have the option to buy him, just a gentlemans agreement with nothing in writing.

The player proved such a success that Watford could have got much more than the trivial £15k we paid for him (figure may not be exact) but they helped Vale as a bigger club should.

Newcastle don't really need Streete, I'd bet anything he wont play a full 1st team game, and they let him get Cup-tied - what goes around comes around though and they can rot. I bet the player is furious too.

Bring back BoomBoom John Mccombe- we cant do any worse defensively and he may notch a few.

Vale shot themselves in the foot by not playing Streete to start with- now he is sure to be loaned out to better clubs who will appreciate his presence. Newcastle obviously took note the fact he wasnt played initially- now they have got their own back.

No spight against the fans- but a spight against Rob Page and his obvious 'clique' that exists within the usual starting line ups.

I bet he isnt too furious to accept his salary.

Vale must have been OK with the agreement or else they wouldnt have signed it... would they?

You know for a fact who is/was paying his salary do you ? Not relevant anyway, he was genuinely pleased to be here and playing, and had a good attitude before he got in the team. Now he is going to sit on the bench at best for that shower of primadonnas and their lacklustre yes-man-ager.

Vale didn't have a say in the agreement, it was sign it with a recall or not at all - don't you think they would have preferred no recall ?

Amazing how a few posters on this thread bend over backwards to speculate on others point of view and warm to it, even with no clear idea of the detail. Almost as if Newcastle were the priority and not Vale.

He is their player they can do what they want! How are they in the wrong? They want cover and he is obviously the best they have available.

He is indeed their player, but he was on loan to us and they agreed to let him extend his loan deal, then just days later reneged on that...do you not see that that is morally wrong, at least? I find it hard to believe that a club the size of Newcastle has only the untried Remie Streete as defensive cover? It smacks of cynicism, and indecisiveness...and just plain old ****-taking!

Newcastle made it very clear last week there would have to be a 24 hour recall incase of injuries

They have so much cover at centre half that last week when Taylor pulled up before the game they have no option other than to put Dummet as centre half who is really a left back.

Lascelles who is on loan at Forest has no recall clause, Id imagine he is ahead of Streete in terms of first team chances. Clearly Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa who they paid decent money for is not part of their plans and is on loan at Roma

That is the risk of using loan players. Newcastle didn't know they were going to get injuries when they extended the loan. I'd have done exactly the same in Newcastles position. They need to protect their assets when they have limited cover.

Street is highly rated up there by the fans. The forums were asking for his inclusion in the team earlier in the season so it wouldn't surprise me if he was in the squad for their next game.

All makes total sense and it's the risk you take with the loan system. Good luck to him as he looks like a prospect but he didn't make a massive difference.
