He's a poor man's Micky Adams. Yes, the players seem to like him and there has been an increase of effort on the pitch during the last 5 games or so. But in regards to tactics, team selections and methods nothing has changed whatsoever and although he may make a decent manager one day, he should be learning the game at Conference level.

Also, it's often the case where new managers have honeymoon periods where they pick up some good, surprising results but that's not really happened with Page. Saturday is a huge game and if we don't win that I just don't see how he could be offered the job based on his short record.

When adams left I would have preferred a complete sweep, page could have done well if he could have stamped his own style on the team and its selection but Im confused.

If [like someone intimated on another thread] page selected some of the loans why hasnt he chosen them to play instead of staying with what he has become accustomed to? If smurf has chosen them page isnt doing himself any favours by not selecting them to play. Whats even more confusing is smurfs adamant statement that even if someone else gets the managers job they have to work with page... wont that either put some off or cause friction after appointment? will it deter some interest knowing the money is already spent and teams may well be considering not loaning players to vale because they never got games?

I think page has had the perfect opportunity to grasp the nettle but has spent the time finding protective gloves so he doesnt get stung... I dont know why... he still has a job even if he fails [according to smurf]

I was never sold on the idea of the old guard trying to save a ship they were involved in sinking and now I'm certain so for me, emphatically nay.

As I said before though, it was clear from the press conference the day after Micky left that Page has got his feet under the table. I hope Smurf isn't naive enough to think the answer to all our problems was already at the club when he took over
