I wasnt surprised, we dont have a plan B. Its like Mike Bassett, England will play 4-2-3-1 and thats that, it doesnt matter what the opposition do.

 

It was odd for me that he didn't put two up front with say Lallana and Sterling wide and Gerrard and Henderson sitting. Italy were hardly a threat after their second goal so we could probably have got away with two in central midfield, two out wide and two up front.

The other night when Argentina was stuggling Messi was trying everything he could despite being heavily marked. He was on the ball all the time. In the second half as tactics changed, the same thing, except now he had the space to win the game. In the big games Ronaldo rarely performs at top level, he is a guy who damages middle ranking teams. He just stands out on the wing waiting for something to happen instead of getting in to the heart of the game and dominating the ball. That is why Messi is a far better player.

Completely disagree. Ronaldo is a far better player than messi and is a more complete player IMO. Look at the opposition, Portugal players Germany with 10 men and were 3-0 down by half time, where as Argentina played Bosnia and were already winning. Also that's only messis second World Cup goal, I think in 9 matches, that suggests he dosent turn up for the big games. Ronaldo has been far better all season.

Messi scored 41 goals for Barcelona last season despite being out injured completely for 10 weeks and being far short of fitness either side of that period. He has won the Champions League 3 times and world player of the year 4 times. In 2012 he scored 91 goals in total for club and country taking the record for most goals ever scored in year in a top league / international team and in a season from Gerd Muller. Obviously Ronaldo is also a very fine player but there isn't a single stat over career span that matches Messi.
