Anyone who wants rid of Darren after that needs to wobble their head. Things I got from that is that he’s not going to take any crap. He’s the boss of this football club. He’s got a clear plan. Nobody to answer to other than the hierarchy. Yes, talk is cheap, but I’m 100% convinced we have the right man in charge to take us forward and fair play to Matt who fronted up the mistakes made. If we can offload the deadwood and get in who Darren wants, we will be in a great place moving forward.21 points

Football is football. it's not the end of the world. Vale will win, vale will lose. Vale will get promoted, and Vale will get relegated. Get on the bus and go for a ride. I love watching Vale, league one, league 2 don't really matter to me as long as the players try.18 points

Enjoyed that. Promising that we’re going to have a half decent budget next season & was nice to see a different side to the gaffer. He’s actually quite funny & I’m now convinced he has a personality. Up the vale 💪🏻 💙18 points

I had a quick 2 minute chat with Darren Moore afterwards and I’m convinced he’s a very very serious manager and a winner. I have no doubts the public and dressing persona are very very different He IS THE MAN to turn us around.17 points

Loud round of applause and cheers for DM saying "Just because you see 17 players under contract doesn't mean those 17 will be here next season" Thank <ovf censored>. Get them gone.17 points

I also liked the utter disbelief from Moore when he was told we only had 4 friendlies last summer. Shows the absolute ineptitude of the way the club was being run.16 points
-
No it wouldn’t. That’s a really silly statement. Mitch Clark is made of glass. So you’re relying on him not breaking down. Debrah is a non league footballer. Iacovitti is always one accident away from us conceding. Wynne? You’ve never ever seen the bloke play!! A 30 year old from Canadas version of the mls fills me with zero hope. Ojo. Attitude problem. Unreliable attitude. A bad egg. Ikpeazu. Can’t score goals. Can’t play football! Apart from Wynne and Clark most of those have been mullered week in weeks out. Just because we are going down a level, don’t think these players will become promotion contenders because most of them are absolute dogcrap. Like Moore said, it’s a massive summer rebuild. If we go into the first game of next season with that side then expect a long hard season battling relegation.16 points

I didn't think Moore was the man for us based on what I've seen so far. I just felt he didn't "fit" the fans. But I do feel much more encouraged after watching last night. I've seen a different side to him. Stern. Steely. Focused. Determined. Felt he had a real air of "I'm the boss, don't mess with me". Clearly the nicey nice approach was to try and get a tune out of these dossers. Feel like that will change now and I'm all for it.15 points

Today hopefully Sam will secure promotion to the Premier League having been voted Ipswich Town’s player of the season. It seems an age ago since he was at Vale and was left out in the cold by Micky Adams. Although MA was a fantastic manager for Vale, shunning Morsy was his biggest mistake. Well done Sam hopefully he’ll get a congratulatory text from Micky later.14 points

Considering that, as the co owner, Carol is ultimately responsible for everything I think listing all the things that went wrong whilst ignoring all the things she has got right is extremely unbalanced. You are simply choosing the facts which suit your view of her whilst failing to mention anything which doesn't support that view. That's just unfair.13 points

Anyone asking for Ripley to leave deserves another Tomas Holy/Leo Fasan/Deniz Mehmet. He's one of the only players to get pass marks this year. 99% of goalkeepers play out from the back, either get over it or hate every goalie we are likely to bring in. The reason playing out for the back doesn't work is because he's passing it to a gang of numptys.13 points

I come away, all things considered, pretty grateful about things - which I accept isn’t a standard thing to say a week after relegation! We’ll be rayt.12 points

I like that the club has finally started admitting and rectifying mistakes. Shame it’s taken them so long to wake up. It’s been obvious for a long period of time.11 points

Exactly. These people, CoE’s, CEO’s etc, are appointed to primarily take pressure off the owners so let them get on with it. Things clearly became very toxic between the club and fans over the course of the season and the pressure on the Shanahans must’ve been intense. It’s pressure we don’t have as fans on the terraces. We have the emotional attachment but can walk home after the game and don’t have to worry about running the business, being castigated on social media and all the rest of it. Anyway, we all need a reset and Carol stepping out of the limelight just now is a natural part of that, there’s nothing stopping her from becoming more visible again once the dust has settled and I for one really hope to see her at our open day, kit launch or whatever, for my annual selfie.11 points

Football is football. it's not the end of the world. Vale will win, vale will lose. Vale will get promoted, and Vale will get relegated. Get on the bus and go for a ride. I love watching Vale, league one, league 2 don't really matter to me as long as the players try. As long as the players have put a shift in and looked like they tried, Vale fans will forgive losing a game or two. It's when they instantly look like they are not trying and and have no fight in them. That is what hurts the fans.10 points

In a nutshell there AJ. The very fact that Carol has taken a step back should be a warning light to the "Vocal" minority of Vale fans who think they have carte blanche to do and say what they like with no personal responsibility. Carol taking a step back may or may not be the right thing but the last thing PVFC wants in the near future is another step back which could be a step away.10 points

As far as I am concerned the people making those childish "erm" comments are merely advertising their immaturity and ignorance. I am embarrassed for them.10 points

All opinions I guess, Jones is truly one of the worst footballers I've ever seen in 30 odd years of watching the game. His performance at Barnsley on the opening day was embarassing, he's non league standard and his career stats would suggest that. Cass I thought was half decent the first half of our promotion season before he got injured and I personally have seen far worse than Iacovitti he must have something to have played for the 1 or 2 of the clubs he has. Like I said though I could honestly clear out 90% of our defence from last season and not lose sleep over it, I do agree though we probably aren't going to get rid of all of them so will have to make do and mend with 3 or 4 most likely. Whoever ratified a 2 year deal for Jones(and a few others tbh) ought to be strung up by the short and curlies from the floodlights.10 points

In terms of expectation, am I the only one who's thinking I want this club to sort itself out bloody quickly, get a good team in and push to bounce straight up as Champions, play good attacking football, be horrible to play against - that NO ONE will want to come to Vale Park and we'll strain every sinew to crush all opposition before us. Nothing less. I'll be disappointed if we don't take that attitude.10 points
-
People are laughing, but I've got a really strange feeling about this one. He's already made his money, last move of his career in a league where he would run the show, maybe get some coaching badges out of it and hopefully a promotion. It's no secret he absolutely loved playing for Moore at Wednesday. I just don't think it's as daft a move as people are thinking.10 points
-
Correct! Correct! Correct! and Correct! Uche is simply not good enough. Especially, if we have any aspirations of promotion.10 points
-
Barrow have Dom Telford and Cole Stockton. We have Ryan Loft and Uche Ikpeazu. Barrow have missed out on the league two playoffs. Stockton got 7 in 12. Telford only 4. But two seasons ago, Telford got 25 in league 2 at the age of 28. Stockton got 23 in league 1 at the age of 28. Uche will be 30 in February and hasn’t hit a barn door in his career. It won’t start now. It won’t start in August. It won’t start in August 2025. He’s garbage. I don’t want my strikers to do a “job”. I want them to score or contribute to goals. He can’t do either. It’s as simple as that.10 points
-
No I don't but my personal opinion is that Debrah is dreadful and can't trap a bag of sand. We need better.10 points

Pep wouldn’t have kept this squad up never mind Ainsworth. Worst squad in 40 years based on attitude, aggression and running hard yard to close players down. The most passive group of footballers I’ve had the displeasure to watch. Without major surgery they will get bullied in L2. 2 year losing culture is not just going to happen overnight and stop with a change of manager….You should know that.9 points
-
We have to sign a striker who can actually score goals, it's that simple. Wilson, Loft, Uche, Dipepa... must be 10 goals between them all season? That's embarrassing. Take the young lad out of it, 7 goals between Wilson, Loft & Uche. Christ.9 points

As we got relegated we have to accept that several operational and strategic mistakes were made. That includes David Flitcroft did not perform well in leading the football side in the last two seasons. In particular recruitment of players was weak and not mitigated by a few good signings. Carol et al have accepted this and apologised to the fans. We really need to wipe the slate clean on historic criticism and move on so that the poisonous atmosphere has a chance of being transformed to something very positive again. That includes players not being filled with fear about playing at home. We now have what I recognise as a typical business set up. Carol as Chair, Mark as CEO with Darren as the manager of the main activity - football. There was a clear recognition of the need to completely prioritise the football top to bottom in the club. Do not take on too many other off field projects simultaneously. Having watched the whole of the meeting I think they have got it right at strategic level and success will come if plans are implemented effectively at operational level. I'm quite optimistic of a good season which I define as a strong challenge for promotion.9 points

Again, talk is cheap, but Matt acknowledged the separation between fans and the club. That was good to hear. Nice to see Carol will be taking a backstep but still very much committed. Great to hear that Darren will be the football boss of everything. Let’s not forget, we have a former premier league player and manager, who this time last season had amassed almost 100 points in league 1. He had no pre season at Huddersfield and walked into an absolute shower here. We go into next season with a manager who has a proven record and can now get his own players in. We also have a hierarchy who acknowledge they’ve become too nice and mistakes were made. There were no negatives at all from Matt or Darren tonight. It wasn’t cliche crap. It was all about the hard work starts here and we know what we are doing. Especially Darren. To those 17 in contract……. Look at Ben, Chizzy and Ripley. If we can keep those three and get rid of a minimum 8 of those deadwood, I’d be over the moon.9 points

Micky Adams calling him a coward in an interview after he got sent off and then not playing him for a while after probably contributed to that. He was definitely one who got away from us.9 points

Wow! With all the threads currently open in regards to DM, Summer signings etc I can see why that powerful statement needs a thread starting on its own8 points

I was one of the 994 in 1986! A few people on here suggested recently that I go and watch Stoke if I'm not a happy clapper member! Perhaps watching vale lose at Chasetown, going through potential re-election, relegations, admins, etc I beg to differ. That said last season was as bad and in many ways worse than the past miseries. Oh for the John Rudge years.8 points

You are absolutely correct - VFIA would definitely have put out a better starting 13 - playing his infamous 2 7 4 9 formation 😉😉😉😉😉💗💗 And I can assure you I do look nothing like the Victorian Lady staring in a mirror as depicted by my avatar 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣8 points

Chat some crap you do! Read off a script 🤔 it was a live q&a meeting & he was put on the spot with some difficult questions. Got to be the most idiotic & negative person on here you! 🥱 Did you watch or have you watched last nights fans forum? They stated we are going to have a very competitive budget for next season8 points

All sounds fairly positive. I was chatting to a mate who's an Albion fan, and he said they still love Big Dave. I mentioned about the number of Vale fans saying "erm" all the time, and he (and I) both thought that it's perhaps because he's a Brummie that he doesn't come across well. Not everyone can be a good public speaker. What matters is him getting the players organised and motivated to win matches and get us promoted.8 points

I thought the whole evening was beneficial with respectful behaviour from everyone. No name calling or back biting. The proof of the pudding will be come August. I really hope ,and realise due to the Aug transfer window that it's difficult, that we have most of our team in place come opening day. Moore said this was his hope too. We all know the consequences of a 23.50 pm panic signing don't we !8 points

Good post. And fair play to Matt he’s always honest around stuff & as fans that’s all we can ask for8 points

Can someone keep me updated on that fella's parking across his drive issue save me watching ?8 points

We can all be guilty of over reaction and knee jerk statements. It's hurt us all this collapse from October onwards. However I'm really struggling to comprehend that some of these players will be ok in League 2. They are mentally weak, indeed physically weak. No backbone or guts. It's highly likely due to the ludicrous contracts that we are lumbered with some. There has got to be a lot of wriggle room for Moore otherwise unless we get 6 or 7 new starters next season we could be in for a bumpy ride.8 points
-
Some serious mental gymnastics here. DC left us in a far better place than he found us that is just a fact regardless of your dislike of him. In no way shape or form can he have any responsibility for this season just gone.7 points
