  1. I'd play plant in his correct position above all the others. Let's develop our own

  2. Probably in the minority but I get why we signed both, for me both will have very good careers and within a year or two they will be playing regularly at Championship level I have no doubt. When you play the system we do, which is 3 centre backs and Ojo sitting in front, for me you need to 2 players like Arblaster and Devine who will create and get forward. I only saw positive comments on here earlier in the season when Devine joined, never saw anyone post why have we signed him. For me the problems rests with the negative tactics been deployed and awful recruitment or lack of it of a centre forward in the summer. I feel with a decent forward Devine and Arblaster would look even better than they do. I feel like a broken record with Sang but I maintain that after a shaky start, we have a decent player who when played on the right will get assists on a regular basis if we have a forward. Uche and Loft are not good enough and don't want to get on the end of some good balls into the box.

  3. For me Devine has been one of our best players over the past 6 games. I thought he was excellent 1st half v Derby but sadly we don’t have players or tactics to capitalise on his passing and clever movement.

  4. If it’s consistency you are waiting for, then nobody would be starting, except maybe Loft who is incredibly consistent. Consistently crap.

  5. I don’t like going for ex players but in the situation we are in I think Gibbo would be a great addition. Ship Cass out and replace with Gibbo. Big upgrade that for me. That nasty competitive edge is sorely missing in our team. I wouldn’t fancy our current squad to be able to battle out a relegation fight in March. I think a left footer should be the priority in the window. Maybe we will resurrect the deal for Denver Hume?

  7. I would hope that he was annoyed at his own poor performance, rather than at being subbed. Last night he contributed very little, apart from a 'pea-roller' of a shot in the first half. Not sure we can keep playing both him and Arblaster in the same team against the better teams.

  9. I did say peak Gibbo and peak Worrall, we would look far more balanced Sent from my XQ-CC54 using onevalefan mobile app

  10. The issue and most bonkers thing about this club is we have set on a 3-5-2 or variation of that for three seasons now and yet never really signed enough wing backs that are specialist in that role, or when we have we haven't had the depth for that position which is most critical in the system we want to play... its bonkers, last season's lesson's were never learnt. We spent two years with a winger there in Worrall who luckily for us did a job there, we never really got the left back set in the promotion season with Benning in and out, Hussey not quite at the level and Gibbons injured. Last season we ended up with and out of form Mal Benning and no options to change it bar Sammy Robinson and this season we've lost both wing backs to injury so shoe horning wingers and midfielder's in there. Its poor and crucial to rectify it in January.

  11. Exactly this for me. In his earlier games I thought he looked a luxury we could get away with playing because we were winning. There was one game where he was at fault for a goal where he didn't track his man with any commitment. Fair play though, he's adding that to his game and I thought on Tuesday he was one of the better performers.

  12. He signed, Brooker, Paynter, Constantine and Sodje, all of which I would have above Uche and Loft. Could we bring him back as a scout?

  13. We don't score enough goals so we should keep Devine on the pitch because he scores goals...

  14. Devine came so highly rated that i think it was a no brainier to take him. And we dont know how much we are paying for him. The problem with the recruitment was the strikers and fullbacks. To only have one left back who was injury prone has left us without a plan b. And left backs cant be that hard to find. Unforgivable oversight to not see what would happen. Though the worst crime was paying actual money for and giving a two year contract to loft. Not good enough for league 2 never mind league 1. And his name has been mentioned a number of times as though we had tracked him for a long time, and so not really a panic buy.

  15. I don't think Devine was a planned signing - we just got told he was available and put our hat in the ring. I don't think we should have signed him though, we should have signed a left-back and let Plant play in his natural position behind the striker. That is of course if it was either/or

  16. I'm sure we'll find that out in due course.

  17. For me I think we'll end up spending on another striker and a left back in January and, now that we've got an "in" to teams in the Championship and Premier League, we'll also try and get a loan from higher up in the Striker Dept. Once we have our full squad back and weve added a couple more players, we could get back to the sort of results we had at the start of the season. Be lovely to get a result tonight. I'd also love us to score more than one goal to shut people up/give AC a bit of breathing space so the club can concentrate on something else than people losing their <ovf censored>

  19. I think it's more like people being offended on behalf of someone else who hasn't said they would feel offended in the first place?* It's also about pre-empting someone being offended over something inoffensive...like the word "Christmas", which doesn't seem to be offensive to anyone who isn't a Christian, yet there are people who have tiptoed around this for several years. My (Asian) newspaper shop always respond to me saying "Whatever you celebrate, have a lovely Christmas holiday period" by thanking me, shaking hands with me and wishing me a Merry Christmas. * There are plenty of genuine examples - look at the people who have fallen foul of the "cancel culture" - they're not all raving Right-wingers!!!

  20. On that, I only found out a few days ago that Tom is the son of one of my business partners - just glimpsed his profile on LinkedIn and there was a picture of Tom in his new 'Nam kit.

  21. I don't understand why Arblaster and Devine were signed one or the other for me, the recruitment team need to answer a few questions, I thought the lesson had been learned last season Re. the Keepers (Two average ones or one good one) same mistake with the strikers this time round except we never got round to signing anyone and now looking back they all seem to be panic buys and I guess none of them have come cheap.
