It’s a modern day cliche, but the game has gone. Especially at the top end. Everyone is a mate of the opposition. No big rivalries. Tackling has been taken out of the game. Everyone still comes off the pitch looking like a male model. Magloire has become my poster boy for this disastrous season. He is miles off it. But take a look and him and Hernandez, they don’t even look anywhere as fit as a footballer should. Horrendous signings. Who the fk sanctioned these? 

Absolutely this. Give me any of those players any day over some of this lot. I refer to many previous posts on here, players like that had the traits I can relate to and looked like they were playing for the shirt and us. That’s the kind of dna we need in the side come next season I think.

Playing 2 games a week for the last couple of months hasn't helped any

Worst Vale team I’ve ever seen. This squad didn’t deserve to be in a quarter final and they put in a performance to be expected.

Don't care how good Chelsea are supposed to be that was a total [emoji90] show, we never laid a glove on them the whole game and they never had to get out of second gear !! Didn't expect to win but Jesus H Christ it was embarrassing, if we can't improve the recruitment tenfold we'll be in the National League shortly.......never have I seen such a gutless, spineless, unfit bunch of so called footballers,what the hell is going on at our club somebody please enlighten me !! The game went pretty much how our season has. We cant score goals hence why we're the lowest scorers in the league and we give poor goals away from corners and defender and goalkeeping errors. We lose every week and lost 4 nil to Wycombe and 5 nil to Huddersfield so was obviously chelsea were going put more past us.

Well, now the season is officially over it is time to take stock. Personally I would bin the lot off. The players, coaches, manager, every single one of the backroom staff and especially that little boy in the short trousers, Matthew something I think. That only leaves Carol and she has some serious thinking to do. Yes she has been incredibly generous with her cash but, she seems more interested in the "community" side of things and personal publicity than she does the football. Also, to my mind, most of our troubles are directly the result of her catastrophic recruitment decisions. 

I'm really looking hard for a silver lining in that massive black cloud but so far without success.

Oh yes, this the match thread isn't it? As others have said we expected a heavy defeat but as in other big games this season the players just did not seem able to motivate themselves to do even the absolute basics.

Most embarrassing thing yesterday other than our performance was Chelsea’s support. They could hardly muster a song or cheer; and when they did mumble something it was pre choreographed by the music they played over the tannoy.
 

if a team in a FA Cup quarter final can’t be up for it when they are several goals up, then the game has completely gone. I imagine the Chelsea ends were full of tourists. 

For me I cannot imagine anything worse than supporting a team like that………give me a team who can barely put three passes together sitting at the bottom of league one any day of the week. 🤣

Agree with all of that, but for one detail. The ground. Despite notorious big money owners and despite plenty of success in the last 20 years clearly none of that cash has been spent on the ground. I suspect the last major uplift was in the bates era. 

I had a ticket in the home end. Inside was smart, like going to a high end cinema bar. It was well done. I was sat on padded seat. The structure of the roofing was tired though.
