I’m willing to overlook the 7-0 given who we were playing and where, but the club isn’t half depressing me with how they are conducting themselves in the media and an organisation. It’s amateur, it’s apathy and I get the sense they don’t really care long as they - the ownership are enjoying the days out - don’t care about anything else. They are conveniently ill and AWOL when sentiment gets negative (when it’s probably munchausens) and everywhere when it’s not. 
 

Going the Vale for me is just a chance for a few beers and watch 22 players kick a ball for 90 mins. But it could and should be so much better. We deserve that much.

The thing that pulled us all into the Vale was the team on the pitch and what they represented.

I've been going since 1990.  I've seen the best times we've ever had on the pitch and also some completely and utterly depressing dross but I am actually finding the current situation the most testing for me as a fan I think.

The Shanahans have always had credit with me but that will have gone at 16:50 on the 2nd May.  It then ALL depends on what we do this summer.  And by that, I mean changes at the top.  If they persist with folk like Hancock, Darnborough etc then that tells us everything.  They've failed, miserably, time and again. Darnbrough is a career failure.   He just gets passed around clubs not doing what he gets employed for.  Hancock just isnt up to calling the football shots at a football club.  Keep them, and I definitely will be of the opinion the Shanahans need to call it a day.

The image we put out as a club i find really uncomfortable.  We do a lot of good, and thats commendable, but come on, partying with Buttons after a 7.0?  He's got be the biggest hanger on ever him.  The El Presidente <ovf censored>.  To be fair, I don't think people would be bothered about all that IF we'd got the football right.  And, sadly, I don't think the family cares enough about that side.  Putting a side out on a saturday that the fans identify with should be the standard.

If they don't want to do that then it is 100% time for them to sell up and go.

Whats been on my mind is the interviews after. Nobody is angry. It’s an acceptance and those inside the club actually believe that performance was acceptable!!! And therein lies the problem.

The club, staff and players went into an FA cup quarter final, already beaten, going for a jolly up in London. And it’s unacceptable. It stems from the top. We are an easy touch and I’m fed up of it.

This club is on its arse and those inside it cannot see it and are just happy to sleepwalk it’s way down the pyramid.

That performance yesterday sums up those at the top……….. Pathetic.

When our illustrious neighbours were last in the premier league they too lost 7 nil at Chelsea.  They weren't a team assembled in free transfers and low fee signings. They were a team assembled with huge sky  millions coming in every season and owners who are among the richest in the country. Yet here you are crying because we had the same result. I sat in the hospitality area at Chelsea to guarantee all my family got a ticket and there were other Vale fans in there too. We were at the opposite end to the Vale fans and all you could here all game was Vale fans singing. I couldn't be more prouder listening to those Vale chants ringing around the ground Chelsea fans politely applauded when they scored and then shut up again. That's why I'm glad and proud to be a Vale fan and why I will be back at Vale Park on Tusday to see the club and fans that I love. That's why I don't come on here and whinge at every little mishap the club goes through. We have had many of those through the years, I would prefer to remember the good bits because they are always sweeter. Yes we lost 7 nil, but we had a brilliant day out, we got to the quarter finals and I heard over 6 thousand Vale fans sing their hearts out. The result won't take that away from me.

Or…… Sort your <ovf censored> <ovf censored> out Carol. Sack the idiot Hancock. Get a proper structure. 
Employ the BEST director of football available. Cut down on the hundreds of staff that basically are robbing a living. And sort this football club out before the fans leave in droves and we end up in non league.

Final thought and then I’ll shut the hell up.

I’ve read a lot of comments on here – many that I find astonishing, that we “didn’t compete”, that we didn’t “put up  fight”, that we “didn’t lay a glove on them.

Let’s just put this into context.  As stated, Chelsea’s team cost £1.6b to assemble.  That’s £1,600,000,000 or to write it another way, it’s one billion, six hundred million.  Their last accounts show a loss of £256 million, which equates to £700,000 EVERY day of the week for a whole year.  They are The World Club Champions; in the final they beat Paris St Germain 3-0 (three nil!) – who spent €4bn on players and lost €400m – that’s €1,010,000 A DAY.  And they still couldn’t beat Chelsea. Yet people on here are bleating about not trying, not competing. 

We’ve lamented on here for months and months now that our players are just not good enough.  They’re not good enough for EFL1 and that we want a big clear out at the end of the season.  Unless it’s missed your observations, it’s the SAME group of players that have just gone up against THE WORLD CLUB CHAMPIONS.  It's insane to even think for a second that we’d compete.  For us to compete we’d have to spend £50m per player and we simply haven’t got and will never have that sort of cash.  Even then, as Paris St Germain will tell you, it might not be enough.

As for the idea of “not laying a glove on them” – let's examine the boxing analogy.  I don’t know much about boxing; I did a lot of Judo and Kung Fu as young man, but I can tell you that, if you were a good club boxer and were a “a bit handy” and you went in the ring with a Holyfield, Sugar-Ray, Calzaghe, Tyson – choose any professional boxer, you wouldn’t lay a glove on them, too.  You’d get a thorough pounding. Go and watch any professional fighter in training for a fight, and watch them sparring – they are merciless.  To expect us to land a punch, to land a glove on Chelsea is ridiculous.

Have you ever, however long ago it might be, tried running against someone who is genuinely fast?

I'm not talking Olympics fast, "only" sub-12 seconds for the 100m fast.

It's a different planet, that is approaching 20 mph pace, and few people are equipped to get near that.

Chelsea's money largely gives them the pick of the world's footballers, with only a few clubs able to compete with them, which is why they can pick up not only highly skilled players but also players who are exceptionally fast.

Our players aren't slow, George Hall and Ben Waine for instance are at the upper levels of EFL1 speed capability, and most of our players are EFL1 capable purely in terms of their speed.
(Yes, I know, don't state the obvious.)

But that is not the same level which the bl**dy world champions have at their disposal.

Gauci wasn't fouled, he is a physically weak goalkeeper and gets outmuscled in situations like that, pretty much the same for the first goal and then for the 2nd at Wycombe last week too
