That ref was a heartless bastard giving that penalty.

Wouldn’t VAR have stepped in though if he hadn’t

I’m so sorry to hear that she’s had major surgery and really glad that she’s at home recovering.

Is she old enough and well enough to be a mascot at Vale Park next season? If so, I would like to sort that out for you.

All the best you and your granddaughter

Hats off to you there BJ that really is a fantastic gesture

I see the haters are out in full and enjoying venting their spleens.  Again.

I don't j ow what people expect. We've just got walloped by THE World Club Champions.

I was hoping it would be less than 6. I was one out.

Their team cost £1.6bn. Ours cost nowt.

I read in the paper yesterday that, in their last set of accounts that have just been published, they lost £246m. That's TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY SIX MILLION. Carol lost £6m and people lost their heads on here. That 44 years of Carols losses.

Can I ask those moaners what would you prefer. That we handy beaten Bristol City and Sunderland, that we had t gone to Stamford Bridge, that we hadn't achieved something that hadn't happend in the last 75 years...??  It's never happend in my lifetime and probably never will again.

I had a great day yesterday.  Thought Stamford Bridge was a great ground - very impressed with the place. We were walloped - as I expected.

Bring on Rotherham, Barnsley and Cardiff.

See you all at Crawley and The Gas

Enjoy your Easter Sunday

Agree with all of that, but for one detail. The ground. Despite notorious big money owners and despite plenty of success in the last 20 years clearly none of that cash has been spent on the ground. I suspect the last major uplift was in the bates era.

I have to be honest i would sooner see Scragg come on than Gray(been a total car crash of a signing sadly, just like Hernandez)

I agree... Gray has been a waste of a wage and Hernandez looks like he's been training in KFC or McDonald's...big clean out needed ASAP

There’s no way we’re playing any youth team players en masse, they’re just not up to it yet (I know some will say the first team aren’t either). Something Garrity said in his post match interview really struck me:

We spoke before the game about how key communication was from everyone. Not just the ones who normally speak on the pitch, everyone was. We have people who don’t normally speak, shouting, ‘shift left or right,’ this and that. You need that every week so hopefully we can take those things (into the league)”.

It beggars belief that there are players out there who don’t talk. No wonder we’re all over the place at times.

Something else that stuck me what Garrity said post match yesterday “I thought we were brilliant” he must had got a concussion at some point during the game yesterday

Spotted that myself. Gordon was left between a rock and a hard place. If he had gone tighter a huge channel would be left behind him for them to swarm into. Needed to double up as we do with Headley. Wain seemed to have that responsibility, but cannot do it and shouldn’t be asked to do it.
Needed five at the back yesterday, but when Hennigan is missing don’t have the players to do it. Even then we would still have lost, but by less goals.

We had Hall, Humphries and John in the middle at the back. And Gabriel at right wing back. We were playing 5 at the back. We didn't need to double up on that player we just needed one player on him. What was Gordon's role yesterday, he was playing a wing back role too far upfield. That is down to manager instructions. He never went near that winger

Agree with what you say,but he needed help and didn’t get it.

Even though he said it there’s no way he believed that statement surely. He  also mentioned how soft the 3 first half goals were. Can’t be brilliant and soft at the same time.

I can’t actually believe some posters on here. They have been complaining that we have been tripe all season(which we have) yet they seem to have expected us to play really well against the World Club Champions?

I don't think they expected us to play "really" well, just "well" would have been nice. The goal so early was a real hammer blow but for the next 20-odd minutes we did put up some fight but in all honesty they tore us apart at times and rightly so.

On reflection it was testament to our achievements that they put out such a strong starting 11 and they certainly played like a team intend on doing the business. It must have been a great occasion for our players to rub shoulders with some of the World's elite and they can hold their heads high having got that far in the tournament.

It's a shame we couldn't get a goal to give the faithful 6000 some cheer but it's another ground chalked off for me - and it isn't the first ground I've only been to once and lost, and it probably won't be the last.

Carol and Brady have to be ruthless now, ditch the loan players as soon as possible, play some of the lads to give them first team game time and start scouting for next season.

The cup run is over but it took the World Club Champions to bring it to an end, let that sink in Vale fans, the CLUB WORLD CHAMPIONS.

I thought the instructions looked like they were told not to go out wide and get tight to the winger, if he had that leaves a gap between him and Connor Hall.  Yet what do we do first minute, all push up chase the ball and leave a huge gap in behind. Kamikaze start. But for most of the game it seemed like we wanted to play a narrow back 5 to me. I don’t think Gordon is good enough defensively anyway, let alone when he’s got to go one on one with a premier league winger.

Easy to say in hindsight but I think we should have kept the back 5 tight with 2 sitters in front to kill the space, then have 2 of the front 3 doing the donkey work going out side to kill the space down the channels. Then just rely on someone half decent holding it up / running channels/ winning free kicks when it gets pumped forward. All sounds easy, but more difficult to implement against top class players.
