Port Vale v Bolton - Match Thread

I remember Baddiel & Skinner once showed an old Bolton club video of Ray Walker’s winner, because they had some sort of ‘quirky’ club commentator.

Ironically, Wanderers were complaining about how much injury time the ref added on.

It's an excellent clip if anyone can find it. I remember it vividly, as you didn't see much Vale related (especially old clips) on the telebox back then.

Shout out to Eye Shot, who I thought led the line well, despite being frequently man handled.

Positive: win our games in hand and we’re 2 points inside with 21 left to play for.

Negative: the last 4 league games on paper couldn’t be further from ideal.

4 teams on the beach, Champions and runners -up settled, Plymouth and Stockport in POs

Not expecting a Wembley trip to make it complicated.

Not sure how their manager can blame the pitch, they never tried to play on it, all they did was lump it from the keeper (who often did really high looping balls forward which suited defending rather than any kind of flick on) or play it wide to the full back to lump it forward. Proper route one stuff which surprised me. Granted we did the same but in fairness that ball from Headley was a beauty.

The free kick and red they are moaning about is a funny one, it’s more a coming together but then Waineo should of had a penalty.

Didnt think we were overly physical and cynical but if we were fantastic it’s about time we learnt to be more streetwise.

Bolton can moan about all the want, they didn’t lay a glove and Gauci won’t have an easier afternoon all season, free kick and a soft effort down his throat and that’s about it. Expecting them to put us under serious pressure as the game wore on and it just never ever materialised.

No chance we will get to a predicted 53 points !

Lets not finish bottom and maybe aim for Rotherham but we haven't a cat in hells chance of catching the likes of Wigan, Doncaster, Exeter etc. Probably still more chance of Stoke getting to the Prem than us staying up.

I believe we will finish above both Rovrum and Northampton at least....

Exeter must be on some kinda horrendously bad run as they seem to have joined the Relegation race rather late.....

They have the play off chasing Plymouth argyle away shortly in a massively Important local derby.....

Rotherham, Northampton and the Vale are down, it's either Exeter or Blackpool to join us.....

Hope it's  Blackpool for the benefit of travelling Vale fans.....

As I thought, both Blackpool and Exeter are at 1/1 FAVES to get the final relegation spot....

The next nearest team is 8/1 so it's any four from the current bottom five sides.....

It feels like we've been 11 points off for months now. It's like nobody wants to stay up.

100% It’s also embarrassing when those with really strong, vitriolic, “I know better than you” posts who wrote him off, play the moaners Trump card of being able to just say “oh I’m glad I’m wrong” and continue on as if they weren’t being a total t*t when they were doing it!

Post of the day. Well said m8

I think Exeter will be the 4th team. Their current form is appalling and Blackpool do have good players. I fancy us to come out on top of the mini league of the doomed 3 - bottom 4 Exeter, Vale, Rotherham, Northampton.

I like the mini league aspect. It will keep me going until the end of the season.

I think third bottom is realistic and achievable.

If we can overtake Rotherham and Northampton, Brady’s reign so far will have been a successful one. It was a hard task to begin with and for me we were relegated after the defeat to Exeter in January. But not finishing bottom and the cup run will make the end of season games more enthralling.

We were fantastic yesterday. We just need to be a little better on the ball once we have it in the midfield area but I thought we were much better at that yesterday than on Tuesday where we just hoofed it forward from anywhere.

I know people will disagree but I really feel that this team will be absolutely fine next season and get us back up, but a few additions and a trim.
