Port Vale v Bolton - Match Thread

Well that was impressive! Just needed that second goal ! By far the better side had quite a few chances, the defence was solid and the midfield is getting better. Let’s just keep this standard to give us long suffering fans a smile! Well done gaffer and the boys.

And like 83-84 if we win a few more games it won't have any bearing on the next season where we finished mid table after a strong finish. That I'm afraid is how football works.

We did although that was largely due to an injury hit dreadful April. We had a good home record in 84/5, so it was more enjoyable than some post relegation seasons in the bottom tier. My last full season living in Stoke. The second half of 83/84 season was important as some young players did come of age as footballers. Players like Sproson and Earle were much better players when they returned 2 years later.

Cracking performance and a great rare win against them!

UTV!

Two wins against them in one season!

From the Bolton forum. Imagine how butt hurt this fella is feeling right now. Proper ruined his Saturday night. 🤣

Ref was equally as <ovf censored> for both teams.

C Hall should’ve been sent off, we should’ve had a stonewall pen.
Ref let some stuff go when I thought we were lucky not to give a foul away. At the same time, Sherif and Waine were being consistently fouled with nothing given.

They definitely should’ve picked up 3 bookings as well where the ref kept his card in his pockets.

Well, great grit, determination and 100% effort from the team. I thought Connor and Gabriel were outstanding!

Ref let a bit of the contact go for both teams and we gave as good as we got.

Good use of subs by Brady and well done to the management team. Happy weekend Valiants.

😀🍺🌞

Holding my hands right up here as someone who has knocked C.Hall and Ojo and also saying no way should they get new deals,i thought both were outstanding today and if that carries on until the end of the season then Brady might just have some tough decisions to make in fact a lot tougher than some thought

GET INNNNNNNN YOU MIGHTY WHITES

Great win! Great work rate! Enjoyed it!

Bolton = Sheeeeee iiiiiite!

Bolton fans were doing moaning - Christ! How are they 3rd?

Well done Vale!

What a result & performance (Deliberately that way round)

First half, as per, it was very niggly and untidy and the quality of the football left a lot to be desired. But…..we scored a great goal and had that bit of fight in us.

Second half, to a man, superb, they never threatened other than from the rather cheap freekicks yet another poor ref constantly gave them.

I’d go so far as to say 1-0 flattered them, we had so many situations on the break but, as usual, it’s the final ball/decision that is proving so costly (though thankfully it didn’t matter today).

Made my thoughts clear on GHall….he’s attacking MF all day long. He’ll get goals next year in L2. Gordon & Headley will be as good as anything on the left, both great today; Walters at last seems to have bucked up; CHall is good for another L2 campaign and likewise Ojo. Gabriel superb again.

I thought Waine really played well and carried the fight when he came on and again feel confident he’ll got goals in L2 next year.

As I say, I think we’ve got most of the tools we’ll need, when everyone’s fit and ‘on it’, with a few additions.

As disappointed as I was with Tuesday, I think that has gone some way towards putting it right.

This is the worst example of a prematch ritual ever but since Reading at home any time I choose to have Neck Oil in Tommys pre game which have had today we don’t lose (I had Guinness against Bradford).

I expect we’ll still lose though 🤣

It's worse for me,I chose not to have a pie today and we won so now my lad says I cant have any more pies at home games 😞

I love a Balti pie as well

Agreed, not many Vale fans here at all.

There weren't I agree but those of us who were witnessed one of our best performances of the season by far

I feel so much more confident going into the summer with Brady in charge,he actually does seem like the man for us

Now you mention it mate the streak continues and I’ll take all the credit for today’s win 🤣

Guess it’s Neck Oil all the way to survival and the Europa League now. Sacrifices eh 😅

I reckon we will overtake Northampton and they will finish bottom.

I agree.

Imho, Northampton, Rotherham and Exeter are prime candidates for relegation.

And then it’s a contest between Vale, Blackpool and Wigan as to who will be consigned to the fourth slot of doom.
