He will move on.  I think it’s better he did, he’s not that good any more and clearly isn’t overly keen on staying and waiting to see if someone offers him a 2 year deal. We should move on we’ve got better and can get better

Have to agree , Ben has run his race I’m afraid . Great servant and a top guy but injuries have got the better of him I’m afraid

I thought that Matt Hancocks explanation of Darnboroughs role, when questioned on R Sjoke, was very clunky. It come across to be more suited to a director of football role  but said that he was the head of recruitment. Perhaps I didn't fully grasp the explanation, but I dont get the need for a middle man type, between the chief scout and the manager and chief executive. Just too many various opinions and potential disagreements created (too many cooks) that could hinder  or miss out on a good signing. If LD is to be sporting director of football, then just say it, if he's not, then it should be P45 time and redirect, what would be a significant wage.

Foyle had a p155 poor budget in his last season at the club.

Valiant2001 kept cutting & cutting his budget and were always moving the rug from beneath him

They upped the budget by 20% in his final season. I'd bought some shares and the accounts were audited. It wasn't the biggest in the league but it was competitive. For whatever reason David McGoldrick and Marc Richards (I think he was playing with an ankle injury) failed to find any kind of form at the start of the season in 2007/08 and the season spiralled down from there. I don't think either scored a goal in the first 2 months of the season, which I suspect was the longest either player went without a goal in their career. Maybe if Martin had been given a little more time he would have got the forward line working. History did show that both were good players, although it maybe didn't seem that way at the time. It certainly didn't help that the Glover/Foyle/Porter relationship wasn't maybe as strong as it had once been.

There was a reason why V2001 kept cutting budgets,  the club wasn't and has continued to be unable to make a profit. The era of rich owners had started, with clubs becoming subsidised entities. I did go to a few AGMs and met most of the main figures. Some I liked, some less so. It was pretty clear from looking at the accounts from the first season it was going to be a struggle. I don't think any of them had that much money, apart from Peter Jackson. Even Jackson wasn't wealthy enough to have put in the money Carol has for the pitch this summer. Maybe Chaudry would have stood a better chance, although I'm not sure he really had the cash flow to have made a difference.

I certainly learned a valuable lesson about taking emotion out of financial and business decisions.  3 grand was a lot of money to me back then and although I never expected to see a return I did hope to see the experiment work to a degree.

Why will he move on if he's not good enough for us?

Loads of league 2 sides would take him and I’d imagine quite a few would offer a 2 year deal. We cannot be in a position again where if we go back up we’re stuck with players like Garrity who simply aren’t good enough for league 1. (He’s fine at this level but I’d rather us go for someone younger and who isn’t as injury prone)

It impossible that. To have an entire squad of players in league two who are also good enough for league one too. It’s pie in the sky stuff.

Getting rid of someone now who would be good in league two but won’t be good when / if we go up to league one is actually stupid logic.

Well according to Darren Moore speaking on the managers podcast that was exactly the problem , too many players not good enough for league 1 , also he did mention losing Tolij also was a big factor

His recruitment on the whole was terrible but he failed to mention that

If he enters the clubs then that is a disaster. He has knowledge of players from lower league football......that is where we will end up. Pathetic if he comes back. Absolutely atrocious.

Hate to break it to you feller but we are in the bottom division.  Doesn't get much lower league than that.  I would say has a lot of knowledge of exactly the areas we should be looking.

We'd bought and sold Lee Mills before Martin was coaching. He was playing in the Premiership before he was appointed manager.

He probably meant Lee Matthews who to be fair was absolute quality when he was fit. The problem was that was a pretty rare occurrence.
