Story I heard that he couldn't be bothered to turn up for the final game.

Yes, I've probably heard that in the pub trying to think of whether he was there or not. Oh well, who cares? I'd have picked academy player over player departing in final dead rubber game every time. And glad we did that.

I'll put that story along with all the other 'fallouts' that must have happened when we've sold a player, or didn't make a matchday squad despite having a massive squad and only 18 names we can put down.

I don't believe he couldn't be bothered personally but wouldn't be surprised either. Don't think anybody expected him to be staying with us for a L2 campaign anyway.

It would have probably been different if his "goal" hadn't been wrongly disallowed...

If that goal against Bromley was given we might have been champions last time in L2.

Was it ever mentioned what happened with Andre Grey? Seemed like he'd left the club a few weeks before the end of the season. Did he kick a ball for us after he was seen so proudly holding that Chelsea shirt after the game at Stamford Bridge?

Both he and Hernandez looked woefully unfit for league football when they arrived. More a pair of fat lads playing Sunday morning after a Saturday day night in a local Working Man's Club than professional footballers.  Hernandez got himself down a shorts size or two, Gray never did. I suspect he did like the idea of playing on a Saturday,  not the reality of training Monday to Friday to be fit to do so. I don't think either are naturally inclined to train, like Worrall. Hernandez seemed to have enough desire to play to still make a sacrifice,  Grey didn't.

I wonder if Worrall will make a return to the club at some point soon to work with the Academy. He got along very well with Carol and helped out with coaching while still at the club. He's without a job, clearly had an affinity with the club and pretty much well liked by anyone connected to the club. Good understanding of the game as he was able to adapt how he played as he got older. Still arguably the best overall wingback since moving to a back 3, although Gabriel perhaps went ahead of him in the second half of last season.  I think at the end he would have been a good rightback in a back 4, as he improved the defensive side of his game.

Imagine him playing under Moore. We'd never hear the end of how wonderful Marvellous had been.

Reading Baggers newsletter it seems that we'll have a top end of the league budget again but there's talk of a lot more scrutiny over the signings. Reading between the lines it seems that Moore was given way too much control over signings and very little thought as to whether they were right for the club.

One thing that did concern me was the talk of using more youth players. I'm fine with 1 or 2 coming through each season but there's a reason why so many are let go. Let's wait until we know they're good enough rather than playing them just because they're home grown.

There was also mention that Brady and the Chief Scout and recruitment team will be identifying players. From what I could gather Darnborough will only come in at the contract negotiation stage. It will be ultimately Brady from a football side and Hancock from a budget side who have the final say.

That all sounds like positive and responsible progress that should set us up nicely. I'm looking forward to us being very competitive this season with what you've mentioned in place, + a full Brady pre-season and a lot of new faces that fit Brady's ethos / playing style.

Isn't that like saying if we'd have scored 8 goals at Chelsea we would have been in the semis of the fa cup 😁😎

Wonder if Ray Williams is coming back ??

I believe Terry Bailey has been contacted, those two really fancy the new pitch with their low centre of gravity they should be a real handful if we can keep it on the ground.

Derek Brownbill is our plan B if we decide to opt for a longer ball style.

You heard it here first.

Wow, down memory lane there. I remember winning kids quiz and I'm 64 now. I was given a tour of the inner of the club and was asked who I wanted to give me my prize.

I said as long as it wasn't "tubby Bailey" I wasn't bothered....you've guessed it...he was standing behind me and heard all I said. He still gave me my prize but my hand hasn't been the same since.

Doncaster have made there second signing, James Husband

I quite like the idea of youth coming through but i agree they have got to be good enough and one or two not four or five, the concern for me is though we had the perfect chance to blood more than just Lake and what happened to Shorrock.
