So do we spend money on two strikers or get a new keeper in before we even consider signing these fabled two strikers? Not sure your post makes the priorities clear🤔

And I assume that by spending money you think the owner should just throw more of her own money at it?

I think the owners will be throwing money at it anyway tbh without anyone here expecting it

We will certainly be paying transfer fees

It impossible that. To have an entire squad of players in league two who are also good enough for league one too. It’s pie in the sky stuff.

Getting rid of someone now who would be good in league two but won’t be good when / if we go up to league one is actually stupid logic.

I don’t agree. We all know he’s not a league 1 player and let’s be honest he wasn’t brilliant last time in league 2. He’s extremely injury prone and spends half his time moaning at the fans. If we offer him a 2 year deal and we go up we’re in the exact same position again, carrying players who will be on a decent wage who aren’t good enough.

If he signs for a year, fine, no issues with that. Any more is a mistake.

We obviously won’t have a full squad of players that are above this level and I never suggested this. But Ben will be one of our biggest earners, hasn’t been great and is always injured.

he played 20 games last season and scored 0. Last time in league 2 he only played 29 times and scored 5. I think he’s a bit over rated and someone we shouldn’t be carrying given his injury record.

Ben always takes time to reach his top form and IMHO just needs an injury free pre-season

Without doubt he inspires players around him to play better. He is a natural leader, a captain who would be a big loss, and difficult to replace.

He’s like Wilson. Always injured then takes a month to be up to speed and then is injured a couple of weeks later.

I was talking generally about any player in the squad not specifically about Garrity. But seeing as you mention him, it’s only fans who have an issue with a player making 29 appearances in the season. May as well let that go because the league is full of players making that many appearances who are making a living out the game. If he can contribute 30 games then I have no issue with that. Any new contract could take into account his recent injury record, but if he’s going to be a benefit to the club the. I’d say keep him.

Some wont like it and i totally understand why but i do think Garrity will sign what will probably be a 2yr deal,i wont have a problem with that as my guess will be it will reflect his past injury record over the last couple of seasons.

I am being biased because he is one of my favourite players(although he blotted that a bit with his fall out with the fans) but again if he goes i wont lose sleep because i know he can be replaced.

If Ben Garrity is holding out for a league one club, he’s going to be disappointed

Well according to Darren Moore speaking on the managers podcast that was exactly the problem , too many players not good enough for league 1 , also he did mention losing Tolij also was a big factor

His recruitment on the whole was terrible but he failed to mention that

Not seen the interview but if he said that he's a bit of a muppet. On paper we ended the January window as a weaker side than on 31 December. A table of results from 1 Jan 26 onwards actually has us joint 16th. We were comfortably rock bottom on 31 December 25. Brady got lower mid table performances out of the same and lesser players than Moore. With the players we had we really should have stayed up. I have seen a few other quotes in a similar vein to this. He does need to take some responsibility over the reasons the same players performed so much better without him.

It wasn't even a case of Brady playing a different system. Brady tried that without success; then reverted to Moore's line up because he decided it best suited the players.

100% because he’s not gone anywhere yet but interesting that they have had to come out and make a statement though

In my opinion, Ben Garrity is the key as to whether Vale challenge for promotion or not. We will sign decent forwards but we need goals from midfield too. If he signs and rediscovers his goalscoring touch, we will do well. If not, who knows

It’s all if’s with Garrity. If he stays fit, if he can rediscover his goal scoring form

He may, however, get a League Two one with plenty of cash to chuck around.

That sounds very much like a "please will everyone stop talking about this" statement. Nothing to say that Vale, or any other club for that matter, haven't made contact.
