I wasn't doubting Derek's ability and would have him on from the start. But he wasn't the fastest. Colin Tartt he was one of my favourite players and great to chat to. Oh to have players of that calibre now.
However we will get people moaning if we reminisce too much. So back to today's recruitment problems. There doesn't seem too much outstanding available talent from the league clubs released lists. So I say take a good look at the best of non league. Tolaj as an example. Oh for the days we used to go raiding Stafford Rangers. Damn there I go reminiscing again [emoji1787]

In regards to Martin Foyle.......4 fork forking sake. He was diabolical last time in the hot seat and went on to achieve zip, zero, nada above the level he was sacked from, which was a team bottom of league one. 

If he enters the clubs then that is a disaster. He has knowledge of players from lower league football......that is where we will end up. Pathetic if he comes back. Absolutely atrocious.

What a load of rubbish. For a start, he was a manager…totally different role and not only that, it was his first job in football since playing and in hindsight he was. I way near as bad a manager as plenty that came afterwards with far more experience. In his first season we missed out on the play offs by goal average, even in his last full season we were in the top half of division one. He signed the likes of Constantine, Lee Mills and Sodje plus he helped nurture Billy Painter in to the first team. He has been praised for his recruitment skills and even if what you say is correct he has knowledge of players in lower league football, have you seen where we are? Even if we get promoted next season, we are still in lower league football. 
 

Excellent appointment IMO, let’s hope he is replacing Darnborough.

Utter bollox ..we can't get much lower than where we are,ide welcome foyley with open arms,he's had a few years experience from when he was last here,we all learn from our mistakes.. UTV VTID

He also recommended Brooker to Horton as a signing and when at Motherwell as a chief scout he was credited with bringing in a high calibre of player and also described as a workaholic

We'd bought and sold Lee Mills before Martin was coaching. He was playing in the Premiership before he was appointed manager.

I thought Martin did OK as a manager overall, given the budget. However,  when he took over from Horton we were already in a playoff position.  That final summer did for him overall,  when he was given a much improved budget. He actually signed better player when he was given hardly anything than when he got a competitive budget.

Foyle had a p155 poor budget in his last season at the club.

Valiant2001 kept cutting & cutting his budget and were always moving the rug from beneath him

Im complaining that we HAVENT had a chief scout which clearly hasn’t worked. 

Stop piping on about how on a couple of occasions when I’ve moaned about the starting 11, we won. What about the other 20+ times? We went down, we were <ovf censored> and on the majority of times it was down to so down right awful team selections. 
 

Again to make it abundantly clear. My post was complaining about us not having a chief scout in the past which clearly didn’t work. Not about moving forwards.
