This was 13th August 2022 -1st home game of the season against Bolton.

A little known GK James Trafford in nets for Bolton.

Hi MBE, sorry the pedant in me has to say the Bolton game was our 2nd home fixture, first was Fleetwood as per darren1810’s post above, hence my confusion. But fully agree with your point - we are a lot stronger/better prepared (at least on paper) on our return to L1 this season compared to our last return. I think the difference this time though is that though the average standard of the opposition is probably similar the ‘standard deviation’ is smaller ie fewer teams at the extremes (teams potentially much better/worse than us) thereby making it a little tougher but that’s balanced by our being better ‘equipped’ than last time.

The James Trafford reference goes to show the level of loans available at L1 level per se and the quality of the league that season - Ipswich were a prime example of the gulf in squad quality between teams in the league that season - how many of that team were/are now worth multi millions?

I doubt it. You have to order your Cardiff ticket. It's not automatic so if you haven't physically ordered your ticket then it won't be counted in that number.

I did order it, but sadly won’t be going. Not everyone true, but given that I had paid for it with my membership and I had hoped to go, it was always going to be taken up.

Trafford made a ridiculous save that day to keep a point blank header out, Bolton fans raging that they'd scored a goal like ours at Bromley only for the side camera angle to show it hadn't and Santos was his usual self against us.

Fleetwood was first which ironically we won despite having McDermott and an injured Proctor up front! We have a better and deeper squad now, but money at this level is ridiculous at the moment so its possibly harder to compete (granted you had Ipswich but they were an anomaly in that season). Bookies have us relegated this season at the moment so we've got work to do.

The growth in the amount of folk, wanting come see us play is fantastic ...

I remember on week days mainly tuesdays 3 .5 there, loyal to the core ,so if 10k do turn up thats magnificent in my opinion ,ok only 8k Vale fans but all the same thats a 4.5 k uplift so shows theres something building quite nicely and worth watching .

Be the fourth over 10k in a row if so .

Going be a special atmosphere , the players should feel ten foot tall as they step onto the Vale park surface .

Go snd express yourselves as Gazza would sing and enjoy it

If your going cheer and lift .

UTV

I remember the soundbites when the club were saying they want to see us getting 10k gates in regularly - I thought they were mental !

I know we are know where near close to that, but the growth is staggering.

Well done Vale

Going off Footmob app mate - may have missed an earlier home game.

Hopefully the squad can prove they are better equipped than last time and we thrive rather than survive.

Not sure if you're being deliberately obtuse

@Santa,

No, I was being deliberately helpful, or at least trying to be.

But clearly it doesn't seem that way to you, for some reason, so I will not add anything further.

We need a GK who stops every shot, catches and holds onto every shot, commands his area completely, catches every cross, is excellent in his distribution and never lets a pass go astray, has the long kick accuracy of an Exocet missile, and is basically unbeatable. Should be easy enough to find at L1 level

How many millions of you got; i hear the first team keeper at Villa is coing available

Exciting aint it .

Vale v Cardiff

Passionate clubs both

Wonder if passed 10k yet .

Not that it matters you could have 20 k in your ground ,but if 18 k are what i would call librarians ,then its pointless them 18k turning up and expecting the 2k make all the noise and encouragement .

Big night i expect all who attend to want it badly .

To show Port Vale in the best possible way

Used to like meeting a librarian DD, quiet and closeted during the day, wanted excitement at night....lol.

Whatever Vale do on Thursday night, we've got to be up for it and have the right tactics/formation from the get go.

Mmmmmm, they seem to think our fans like a good scrap and we have one of the weakest teams in the division. 🤔

We had better get full voice on, Come Thursday. 👍

I don’t think they know anything about us to be honest, their website preview mentioned Ruari being on loan from Dundee, Dean Whithead is still a coach, Flitcroff is DOF and Carik Shanahan owns us!
