I can't get myself excited for this one. I'll be there as I always am, but there's no pattern to our play, most of the players seem very lacking in confidence, as most people are saying, the tactics (if we have any) by DM are dreadful.  I can't see past a boring 1-1 or a 1--2 loss and that's coming from an Ex happy clapper.

So sad. 😔😔

Happy 2025 upfront.

Know what you mean about the game.  Can't see DM and CO putting a steady team together.  Go with 5 changes to the side that played.  Lone striker (double marked) defensive midfield and a defence that can't track runners and switch off.

Going for a loss this game as I just can't see where the goals are going to come from.  Unless the seagull appears in the Cheltenham's goal area and heads the ball in for Vale and the officials allow it.

If he is sacked it will be after the transfer window has shut and no money can be used to bring in an attacking midfielder, defender and striker.

With regards tomorrow's game, I feel it's definitely a MUST WIN game, for the player's as much as the fan's. Confidence appears to have hit rock bottom and although we lost on Sunday I feel that had we scored when we were 'at it' those first 15/20 minutes then the game would have panned out much differently.

We need to attack from the start and SHOOT. Take the game to them and press hard - like teams are now doing to us.

Be brave, don't rely on another player to do something positive - do it yourself. We are not a bad side, our players must believe that each of them is better than their counterpart on the opposite side.

Get the first goal and then go for the jugular, get the fan's behind you - WIN every challenge, every second ball, compete for 90+ minutes and BELIEVE IN and TRUST each other.

Totally agree with this. Decisiveness is the biggest thing we've been missing for weeks. We have to be much less ponderous, otherwise the goals will continue to be very difficult to get.

Come on Barny remain optimistic.

Lacking in confidence for sure need to drop prices and get as many folk as possible in even if just for hamil and then encourage the players.

As a follower /supporter that's all you can do .

Good teams get momentum over Xmas and New year .

5th now with a win maybe we move up with Notts County beating Walsall ,thats what I think will occur .

They conceded 5 at home what's there be afraid of .

My optimism has been drained from me! 😭

Nippy Naylor will be saying " I told yer" 😭

Yes I get that .

Being poorly since 23rd Dec and was hoping Vale would win both games over Xmas boost me up ok Bradford was OK especially the Vale goal, and the way they play second half and after seeing there offside goal I forgave thst so wasn't too down about that defeat. ,However the Grimsby debacle that was different as I saw something what I've seen in last 2 years when things go wrong I saw a disdain from the players, towards the support in the overall way the team played especially in the way the goals were given away so it deeply saddened me to feel HERE WE GO we at it again .

So I get how you feel

MISTRUST ANGER and bewildered .

i predict tomorrow is going to be another difficult afternoon for the fans for the club and for Darren.

Tell that to Moore!!!!

Feels like we are in the same boat as this time last year.....Free fall, we are 5th and dropping, ok for the first 15 mins and then falling away, Moores sucking the life out the place, the fans see it and it seems the players see it. We were warned ⚠️

In response to Sandyford_Lions' request - here goes :

The team I have picked is based on everyone being fit and available (not suspended), and is MY interpretation of our best 11 that should be given the next 5/6 games (all barring injuries/suspensions etc.) to try and achieve some stability and more importantly - some points!.

It's a 442/4132 formation with Byers playing in front of the back 4 and Garrity further up field.

GK - Ripley

RB - Clark

CB - Smith

CB - Hall

LB - Hart

RW - Sang

CM (D) - Byers

CM (F) - Garrity

LW - Curtis

FWD - Stockley

FWD - Tolay

Subs Amos, Cover, Heneghan, John, Richards, Paton, Croasdale

4-4-2 would be too open but the 4-1-3-2 with attacking full backs would work.

However Croasdale needs to sit in front of the four and break up play - it’s what he’s good at.

Hart isn’t an attacking wing back for me. He’s very Adam Yates in that he’s a steady Eddie full back. So I’d swap him for John so that we have two attacking full backs.

*Sang Garrity and Chislett for the three central midfield options, although will ban be back?

Edited by PV1993
*when Sang isn’t suspended

Sang suspended for 2 more games

If I was Nathan Smith I'd be breaking down Moore's door. If he doesn't get a game ahead of Debrah and Hall given how abysmal both have been recently then there's something wrong.

Re Sang I already stated the selection was with everyone fit and available (not suspended).

I go 4-4-2 because I don't want my full-backs to attack, that's what the wingers are there for. The defenders defend.

The plan is an old fashioned 4-4-2 where we get the ball to the wingers who actually attack the by-line and cross the ball for Stockley and Tolaj to score. Old fashioned attacking football from the off.

It's also a starting 11, there's scope to bring on the subs if (and when) they are required. Take the game to the opposition, let them worry about our attacking threat.

If the opposition have corners or throw ins near our box, we leave Tolaj and Curtis on the half-way line. that keeps at least 3 opposition players out of our box. Impose ourselves on teams, we have the players. let's use them, set them free and see where it takes us.

Off-Topic somewhat so sorry to go all Championship Manager Rob'

Quite often Moore puts out a starting 11 with lots of attack minded players, such as Tolaj, Paton, Stockley and Chislett, The trouble is 3 of them play too deep or too wide to be in positions to attack or score. When we played Newport away we had Stockley and Tolaj up front and Benicio and then Rico supplying balls from the right wing and Chis from the left with John also getting crosses in from that side. We scored 4 and could have easily doubled that. It was a pleasure to watch that game. I don't know why Moore didn't stick with that formula and that is what we need to get back to.
