what I don’t understand is Ripley is arguably at fault, at least in part, for all 5 of the last 5 goals. Moore says he has “2 number 1 goalkeepers” but Amos hasn’t played a minute in the league. If he’s just going to sit on the bench all season we might as well have kept Leutweiler (?) for a fraction of the price. Money for nothing again.

Perhaps Amos isn’t a yes man like Nathan Smith.

Personally, I'd play 352. But not with 2 holding midfielders. You shouldn't need 2 CDM if playing 352 in possession and 532 when not on the ball. I also want to see 2 upfront. This gives us the chance to play Paton & Tolaj as strikers (not out wide). That's where they got their goals from last season.

My 3 midfield would be a holding midfielder, box to box midfielder and an attacking/gets in the box/goal scoring midfielder. Certainly, not 2 holding CDMs.

Wing backs to defend when necessary but who can get down the down, carry the ball, get a cross in to the forwards.

Forwards: Two up top, playing off of each other and looking to get on the end of crosses.

When fit and on form (not like at the moment)for example
                                       Ripley

          Smith                 Heneghan              Hall

                                     Croasdale

Mitch                      Byers                                       John

                                             Garrity

                           Stockley               Tolaj/Paton

Curtis used to change things up. Anyone else half-decent on the bench

I think Garrity has to play higher up. I know he’s done well in the two this season, but if you put him in the 10 you actually don’t need Stockley. He links the play well, is a physical presence, and can score goals. We have to play to his strengths.

If we play 3 at the back two of them HAVE to be able to play.

I think Smith and Garrity and maybe Amos would stand up to Moore, they got promoted under Darrell Clarke I would really like to know what they feel about this situation and Darren Moore’s abysmal attempts to be a football manager.

I don’t think Garrity is fit enough to play yet but we will see I heard February probably

Win or leave in my view. We are playing a deeply mediocre Cheltenham Team at home. If Moore can’t mastermind a win here, he won’t anywhere.

Cheltenham are in better form than us. It’s not one to be taken lightly.

The senior players would be the ones controlling the dressing room and those that had been here a while like Smith and Garrity. But I don’t know what all this standing up to the manager stuff is all about. What do people think is going on?

What does that even mean?

I think this is the strongest line up we could play

Going for 4 changes and 1 striker.  Rest of the team will be defensive and play lump ball to the striker who is double marked.

Just hope DM and CO realise they are loosing the fans and change things around and Vale start the year with 3 points.

Dont want to see ripley deborah anywhere near the squad and hackford tbh paton and tolaj upfront with richards behind them. Chislett next to croasdale and get the <ovf censored> at them

Unfortunately Ripley & Debrah will be the first 2 names on the team sheet

When you think about it even the announcement of the starting XI is massive. If it looks positive then people in the ground will be more patient. If its another car crash lineup fans will be baying for blood.

4-2-3-1

Amos

Clarke - Smith - Heneghan - John

Croasdale - Cover

Richards - Chislett - Curtis

Tolaj

Attack them.

Fullbacks overlapping.

Richards/Curtis running at defenders.

Get the ball forward quickly (NO HOOFING).

This would be close to my team. Except I’d have Stockley up top and tolaj in behind close to the team that played Chesterfield in what was probably imo one of our most dominant display. Issue is now we are chopping and changing to try a and find a combination with player who are all bang out of form

Stockley is injured so hopefully he will go with Tolaj and Paton. Get Curtis crossing it and Chiz prompting them. I wouldn't lose sleep if I never saw Jessie again.

Was about to post something very similar to this, but probably hall instead of heneghan. And all the players in their correct positions. It’s not rocket science.
