Burton (A) match thread - 23rd March

Right.  Lucky socks and pants being worn (found them at the bottom of the smalls drawer and cursing myself for not wearing them since Christmas) and I've also offered a few prayers up to the football gods for a clean sheet and for Lofty to score.  Not sure about that defence, but when was I ever?  Come on lads, let's at least make it interesting and score first.  UTV and heaven help us all in this weather.

I blame myself.  I would also like several other offences to be taken into account your honour, including missing the second goal when we played Middlesborough because I was trying to get my legs comfortable in a seat at the back of the Railway Stand built for a midget. Had I not been so distracted, I am confident we would have won the game and beaten Liverpool at Wembley.  So sorry everybody, I will try to be a better person in future.

Why did Loft not tell the fans he was on strike until Flitcroft left?

He could’ve saved himself a lot of grief.

The first half was pretty even. The second half I felt we were just about the better team until they brought Hudlin on, who many wanted us to sign, at which point I felt their performance fell off a cliff. Not excusing nor signing a forward but I would take Dipepa over him every time.

Dipepa may have a big role to play next weekend. We need to keep the goal threats going throughout the match using subs whilst being solid at the back.

Dipepa scored in the 9th min for England today , in a 5-0 win.

I suspect Uche and Dipepa will make the bench next weekend.  Having 4 forwards available will make a difference.

For us to have only won 3 in over 6 months before today and having not won at all in nearly 3 months and still be in a mathematical shout of staying up is astonishing in terms of how poor the bottom 8 of this league is.

The goal Loft scored looked more difficult than the one he missed. Another few inches wider and it probably won’t have bounced yet… Brave having a go

If we can get through those 3 away games without major issue - maybe 4 points, I fancy the fight back.

We’ll see, but well done to all involved today. 

Bristol Rovers was a big game last season…. And to be fair the season before that!
