Burton (A) match thread - 23rd March

A trip up the A50 on Saturday against one of the few teams we can actually catch. Only 3 games in league 1 this weekend so will now be classed as one of our games in hand.

Ticket sales unsurprisingly slow and we haven't even sold out the initial block of 470 standing.

A Glimmer of hope or another nail in the coffin?

1-0 Burton. No point me speculating about how poor Burton are and this is a must win. We are worse. 

Last game for me until August so at least it'll be a few sherbets with the lads if nothing else.

The fact we have only sold about 600 tickets says it all, nobody wants bother watch this crap vale side. We can continue playing experienced players like Jones,Massey,ojo,smith who are basically not trying and making mistakes galore and lose or we can put out our youngsters shorrock, Walters,plant,dipepa and Lomax who will run about abit and lose. Either way we got no chance wouldn't surprise me if we're as bad as we were away at Fleetwood where we lost 3 nil and it could have been 6, will go 3 nil loss.

6 without a win Burton are including a home defeat to Carlisle. 

However we've trumped that ourselves and have often been up against similar opposition.

We will probably win this just to drag the agony out... can see it now.

Vale scrape a 1-0 against an awful Burton, unconvincingly... 3 points behind them and Cambridge... big build up for Good Friday... get behind the boys! The boys are positive in all the interviews.

15:05pm on Good Friday Chris Martin heads in a poorly defended corner and the game is over.

I am going this as its a decent away day but away for Good Friday so last game until Exeter by which point we could be a League Two club... feels such a waste.

We don't know what confidence under Moore looks like yet as the team haven't won under Moore. I can imagine Vale grinding out a one nil at Burton for sure.

The route to 50 points starts here.

We need to start strongly in this last stretch with a minimum of 4 points against Burton, that will set us up for at least another 4 points from Brizzle, getting us in touching distance. Then three away games, we can discount. But never fear, a stomping 5 points against Exeter will see us storming back, before getting rolled by Wycombe and smashed by Bolton. This will set up a simple 4 points to collect on the final day. If we end up losing to any of the first lot, we may need 8 - 10 points on the last day but I back the lads to get the job done.
