Do you know what ? I'm going to go against popular opinion and say right Flickers you get one more chance, your very last chance.

Pull something out of the bag like you did with DC and I'm sure you will be given some grace by the Vale fans.

Make it an uninspiring one, then do not bother turning up for the next home game but you have one chance, one chance to get a some fans back on side

Agree as much as I've lost/losing faith with Flitcroft over the lack of (decent)forward signings in consecutive transfer windows, he's made 1 good appointment, 1 bad on the managerial front.  He may argue he deserves another chance at least on that front(not sure I'd trust him with the summer window but I'd imagine that's another issue depending on if we stay up or go down as I doubt he's going anywhere immediately?)

If he gets this one wrong and we go down he'll most likely be dragged out by a baying mob with torches and pitchforks in the summer.  Get it right at least in the short term and as you say some fans may be back on side.

What I find bizarre from yesterday is Crosby actually took the training then left the club in the afternoon. Very strange circumstances. That tells me it wasn't in the plan to remove Crosby in the morning so what changed?

Carol should make Flitcroft to be on the touchline and manage this team in the interim period. He needs to prove this squad of players he put together is good enough for this league and Crosby was the only problem.

Gannon took training in the morning , hooked after lunch.

What I find very strange is the timing of Crosby's dismissal,

I have already said this morning but I'm going to say it again.

JOHN EUSTACE

He is ticking every box for me.

Out of work - no compensation

Kept Birmingham up by getting his team to be nasty thuckers

Once Birmingham stayed up, he changed their style to a possession based football

He worked with a technical / director of football at Birmingham and left the final decisions on player signings to that DoF - so Carol & Flickers can get on with what the want to do.

Plays ugly football to stay in a league - ✔️

Exciting possession based football - ✔️

Very good man management skills - ✔️

Works with a Director of Football - ✔️

Plays young players in his squad - ✔️

Outside appointment - ✔️

No compensation - ✔️

It's a significant corporate decision. Need to have a formal board meeting with all board members having the opportunity to contribute.

There is also more than sack v don't sack. It involved what to do with the assistant manager? Could sack, keep in place in temporary charge, appoint as manager - and for how long.

Complex options. Even though there is a majority shareholder a proper corporate process should be followed.

It’s not a corporate decision.

There’s Flitcroft and the owner. That’s it.
Simple decision, do you back him to turn it around or not?

I’m hoping a key criteria being considered is that ability to switch tactics from “don’t get beat” this year to “more attacking” next year if we are still a league 1 club.

The one negative is does he know the league?

As things stand I think that should be a pre requisite for the job. We don’t have the luxury now waiting for a new manager understand the league.

If we had acted in November then he would be a good candidate.

That's exactly what Eustace did for Birmingham.

He went from Kidderminster Harriers straight to Birmingham.

100% positive he can hit the ground running in League One

Whoever we pick, I'd love to see Vale play a strong press.  Don't let the opposition settle and relax on the ball; keep at them and nip at people at every touch of the ball.  Make us horrible to play against. Turn Vale Park into a place teams DO NOT want to come.  Outside of that fast, attacking, exciting football - if we lost 0-3 against another good team but we just laid a glove every few seconds on them, I wouldn't care.  But I'd like to see us play with some passion and umppphhh.

Chelsea don't seem worried about stuff like that.

Whose word do we have that we were talking to Chels about loaning players.? The weakest and cheapest link of management has been cut away, don’t forget AC’s contract would have expired in summer so only a few months to pay compensation. AC was appointed as the cheap option, the club stated they were running a process for a new manager, but then admitted that they’d wanted AC so hadn’t bothered. From reading on here, hasn’t our wonderful DoF, just been given a full time contract.? The club is a shambles and a embarrassment from top to bottom and the appointment of a manager will drag on, we’ll have to make do with a temporary manager or another one of the DoF’s pals. No decent manager will come to a club with the regime that we currently have where they’re being dictated to, unless, they’re useless, in desperate need of a need a wage or one of the DoF’s cronies. The club for me is totally unethical and disloyal wish its treatment of its fans and I’m sure this will be reflected in ST sales next season irrespective of what division we are in. The damage that has been done to the club this season is irreparable. As the mantra goes,

‘You can fool some of the people, some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people, all of the time’
