Yep, it’s a means to an end for me too.

Wasn’t expecting a literary masterpiece or to see Vale stories (and his slant on them) I’d not heard from elsewhere in the last 40 years but it’s still an easy read and puts money in the coffers for the main event.

Will never, ever forget the Johnny Rudge’s black and white army chant at Anfield in the League Cup and seeing Liverpool fans  joining in with the rhythmic clapping too.  Still getting goosebumps and hairs standing up on the back of my neck writing about this now.

Yep, that night and the Derby away game 3-2 are for me the most memorable games. Mind you probably because I was young and my Dad took me on the Kop, the 0-0 in 1964 still lives long in my memory bank.

That was stunning, bought the video but the clowns edited most of that out during a break in play when they were putting Jan Molby back together after Robin Van der Laan tackled him.

Enjoyed reading this book and will probably read it again in say 3 or 4 years time if  the good lord is kind to me .Although I thought the Stoke content was ok I will stick a little note on the front of the book to remind me to only read the vale content as that was the part I really enjoyed

I think Bernie was more than ready for a transfer closer to home. I think his wife was either pregnant or had recently given birth. My dad was driving home up Hamil Road and let him out of the top gate once so I reckon he must have legged it into his car without having a shower.

Well, yeah, that was my understanding too. I recall the day after the Southampton win (?) he put in a transfer request as the travelling back up to the north east was taking it's toll. Certainly never heard anything about his transfer being due to a poor attitude.

I find bookshops are generally good places to start

Delivered by Royal Mail. This ain't going to be sold in Liverpool Waterstones. John Rudge is less interesting than a grain of sand on West Kirby beach - other than to me - in these parts.
