My concern is also that we beat Exeter and that gives AC more time to turn it around. You can only hope that if we do beat Exeter its the start of us actually turning it around and we can drag ourselves away from a relegation battle.

Exeter will be looking forward to this. Another loss incoming for me

I don't get why we can't attract a decent manager with pedigree.  I admit if you go for a manager out of a job, the likelihood is that he will have failed in one job or had a bad recent run.  I look back to 2010 when Micky Adams was appointed, he had always been at Championship or top of league 1 and we got him take over after nearly dropping out of the football league.  There are managers out there who will think I need to drop down to get another shot at Championship level.

it all boils down to money. its quite clear we dont have any - the interviews regarding wage structure etc are just waffle

Who says we can’t?

There is no way we will get anything at Exeter . So where will we go from there I wonder.

If we lose at Exeter and Crosby stays, it will show that Carol has either no sense or no money.

Personally, I think he'll stay until the end of December (Happy Christmas, everyone) until his position is absolutely untenable (as if it isn't now).

Truly awful stuff.

News here in the Far East is that Cambridge have just signed Neil Harris, ex-Millwall and Cardiff, as their new manager on an 18 month contract. Great appointment imho and goes to show there are good managers out there who will come to lower league clubs. Crosby is taking us back to L2 and there is no evidence to show he can improve. Time for change, please Carol, before it's too late.

Flitcroft. No manager with a decent reputation is going to want to be a the mercy from a guy who can barely be called a roaring success at any job. In fact, anyone with any dignity or self belief would feel the same.

Adams, as soon as I heard his name knew that he would be a success with Vale. He was a name, one with some proven success but most importantly actually knew leagues 1 and 2 at the time. Few top managers actually know the two lower tiers and that’s important.

To be fair we actually did exactly that when we signed Clarke from Walsall. It was an intelligent, progressive move. So I have no idea why Carol thinks the Norman Smurfwaite approach of giving it to the cheapo assistant of the old bloke is going to work in any shape or form.

Agreed. I mean Uche was probably just about to sign on at the job centre before we showed an interest. No other club appeared keen. It smacked of desperation, to get any old cheap body in. I can just imagine Flitcroft on the phone, thinking “Uche, you used to play for Vale, well don’t attend that Job Centre Plus interview just yet for your £68 a week, come an play for Vale for £90”.

What is really odd is that we seemed to have more money when Norman Smurfwaite was being paid off than we do now without owing him a penny and a year of decent, record breaking, league 1 attendances behind us.

I’m really quite angry. In the last week Bristol rovers have appointed Taylor and now Cambridge getting Harris. Both great managers and Harris in particular I’m amazed has dropped to this level. Two great out of work managers been picked up by similar sized clubs to us whilst we arse around with Crosby. When we finally sack him there’ll be no one decent left.

Who said we will be looking for someone decent? It will probably be Schofield and I don’t mean the former friend of a goafer who likes young interns.

Not sure I’d class Harris as a great manager.  Spent 12 months out of work after Cardiff City sacked him and a Gillingham fan I work with has said he’s no loss to them having taken them down to L2 and looked likely to do the same again if their new American majority shareholder hadn’t splashed the cash last January.  While the Cambridge fans I work with were hopeful rather than excited at the rumour (and now fact) he was coming to the Abbey - hopeful he’d recreate the good days he had at Millwall and his first season at Cardiff.
