Irrespective of how many sides the ground has, personally can't stand these grounds stuck in the middle of nowhere .

I can name Colchester,Oxford,Chesterfield,Lard and many others.

New grounds out of towns and cities. Zero character and pretty difficult to get to if you fancy food and a pint in the town prior to the game.

Apparently Reading is such a delight too.

Shrewsbury, Northampton, York, Doncaster. The worst offender has got to be Wycombe though, literally as far away from the town centre as it could be, at the very end of an industrial estate with one two lane road in and out. Council planners have a lot to answer for. In Wycombe's case they should be beyond embarrassed, it's an insult to the home fans how little they've been thought of.

My wife (then gf) did a hospitality degree and her year's placement (arranged by the college) was at the conference facilities attached to the Kassam.

Within a month she'd arranged her own alternative placement in Bristol and had her bags packed. Substandard staff accommodation and provisions, shoddy working practices, no proper role for her (was just hired as a dogsbody), everything done on the cheap, and Kassam himself was just weird and creepy.

You'd have to pay me a decent wedge to go to that hole, even to watch the mighty Vale.

Reading haven't played there since the 90s?

The Madjeski is on the fringes of town, between a retail park and a Tesco distribution warehouse, next to a sewage treatment works and a business/industrial park full of car dealerships and tool hire places. The nearest pub is a mile away. It's the perfect ground for such a beige club.

I was just comparing the 2. Madjeski you can get to easy enough. Kassam in my opinion is worse from the centre.

There are so many "beige clubs"  hence my ref to VP.

Sjoke are one and I am sure most of them would want the Vic?

If you know Reading its a easy route with great pubs, Oxford is miles from that.

Both are expensive 🙂

Vale do well but could Vale Park house £20k fans?

Anyway Oxford are having issues with the move to Kiddlington, so who knows where to build a ground, with access, pubs/amenities, transport and then the fans who want the preferred seat.

26 quid ain’t cheap, is it true they have free parking though?

Yes, it is free parking. I read somewhere that when they applied to the council to build the stadium, that was a condition that the council had them agree to before the could go ahead with the build.

Parking is free if you park at the cinebowl.( you just stay on the same road past the ground and it leads to the leisure area car park. It's quite a big parking area and are plenty of spaces but it's an absolute bastard to get off after the game.

Went to this fixture last year, my first visit to Kassam Stadium. Got their early about 12.45 loads of free parking at the ground. Walked over to the adjoining retail centre and went into a sports bar. Wasn't wearing any Vale replica top or colours but the security staff sussed that we weren't locals and asked us to leave. So we went into the Hollywood Bowl which had a bar and which did serve us. But it was horrible in there from the point of view of wanting a quiet drink and snack before going to the game. So my advice would be to find somewhere away from the ground for refreshments. Leaving the ground after the game wasn't bad. When I saw the number of cars in the car park I feared the worst but they had a well organised system of parking stewards on duty who directed traffic off the car park and we got away within 10 minutes.
