Forget the actual law, that’s just some words on a piece of paper somewhere that a child scribbles out and then rips up and makes up some new ones each season.  No, usually the ref, possibly the liner, just make a decision off the top of their head, a mental flip of the coin if you will, a bit like deciding what’s for tea.

I realised many years ago that the officials are in a wonderful dreamlike state during games, their heads full of soft, fluffy clouds……beautiful……except when it gets a bit colder and they have to run around a bit, then those fluffy clouds turn to thick fog.

EFL May review it as they feel its short of their guidelines and if the 125% doesn't get deposited they will lose the further 3 points (which Wigan failed to do)
