This one is gathering pace

Looks like it will be announced today. I just hope the numpties give him as much leeway as other players at the club and not single him out because he has had his football education at Stoke.

I think it'll be the opposite won't it?

He's decided to sack them off after they've looked after him throughout his development, and seen the light and joined the good guys, making them look ridiculous in the process. And if he turns out to be a superstar then it'll boil their piss even further.

He'll get far more stick off their lot than us, I'd imagine.

It just goes to show how little is known of our transfer business. Ive never heard of the lad but seems like Stoke fans thought he might break into their squad there. Its also a signing where the player could come good and we could make some money on him although id imagine Stoke will have a sell on.

We sold Taylor...we didn't ditch him. Just the same as we got money for other players who were deemed to be surplus! It sounds like you honestly believe the recruitment team has just been sitting on their arses oblivious to the needs of the club they are paid by, and in total contrast to the work they did last season, getting us promotion against many, many odds? Give it a rest - you and the others who keep reminding us we're short of bodies! Whinging won't do anything about it and won't get players through the door - all it does is increase the friction between fans on here!

Ditch him, sell him, whatever. We got rid, probably had been planning to do so for months, and still haven't got a replacement. Ditto Cov. The club will have known since January that they didn't want him here this season but 6 months on we still don't have 2 keepers and there are 4 days left before the season starts.

This is a place to discuss Port Vale. It's a bit much to dismiss fans' concerns as 'whinging'; as welcome as the new signing is, we're still significantly short of bodies, we've only had 2 friendlies and people are justifiably concerned that we seem woefully underprepared for a new season in a higher league.

Pre-season - the friendlies and player unveilings - is one of the most exciting times of the seaon for football fans and I don't see the issue if supporters are disappointed. To state that people airing these concerns are being 'disloyal', "whinging" or other such bilge is laughable. Should add, you dismissing fans' concerns as such could also "increase the friction between fans on here".

Wasn’t for signing him on loan. That just didn’t make sense to me. However more than happy with a permanent deal. Never seen him play so can’t really comment but Stoke fans seem to rate him. They’re saying he has rejected a new contact to come here to play. They seem to really rate him and wanted a loan move

Could only see that happening if it was a loan. Permanent he’s our player and he’s rejected them. Squad starting to come together nicely

Massey is a solid signing at this level and fits the pattern we've seen before - a player who can operate in a number of positions.

He played the majority of last season at RWB, but can also play in a more advanced role as he did earlier in his career.

I wonder what it means for Wozza? I doubt Massey has come to sit on the bench.

Hopefully it will mean that Wozza has to compete for his place. Nobody should go to any club to sit on the bench (unless you are Carlo Nash). Competition across the park is what we are after, everyone needs to be on their toes and perform to keep their place.

Fair points, possibly Taylor himself wanting a guarantee of more minutes, which he should now get.

I think we have to consider it’s a close season like no other, very short.  Our planning has been somewhat handicapped by not knowing which league we’d be playing in until well after most of our rivals.  More than ever we’re competing with some financial big hitters, in our own league Ipswich just signed a defender for £1,000,000, and we’re trying to be sensible financially.

All in all we need to be pragmatic as fans.  The signings are coming but we’ve just had to wait longer than we’d like.

So pleased to see the upturn in atmosphere on here since last night's announcement!
