Next Manager

Vale having a Director of Football helping and supporting an inexperienced but talented young Manager is nothing new.

Turn back several decades and I understand John Rudge was looking at taking on the DoF role having spoken to Robbie Earle with a view to his taking over from Rudge as Manager.

Another regular happy clapper cretin that strangely mentions Liverpool in a Port Vale thread. So original.
Now then Tylar, can't mention Liverpool in a Port Vale thread and yet it's ok to talk about having a sexual relationship with Kate Beckinsale, tut tut.

This is what Rudgie said about the role of the DoF when he was at Stoke:

"I'm still involved in all aspects of the club, contracts, training, and attending matches, and I'm working with someone I get on really well with Tony Pulis, and I hope that I can just help him by taking the strain off him because I know exactly what its like to be a manager, which is a hard role; and can be often too much for one person. I'm here to lighten the load so he can focus on winning matches. My job involves sixty to seventy hours a week, it's very time consuming."

Did that role include the most important one of recruitment?

Personally I think this is a stupid appointment. Which more confuses things. And costs money. And I think Flitcroft is a guff merchant. I fear the worst. We have had far too many bull shitters around. We are turning into some kind of Alan Partridge  motivational management video  of a club. A Ha!

Hope it works out. Doubt it.  This will not work out well.  Happy to eat my words.

Why dont you try and just be positive about carols decision and start being supportive to the club rather than slate everything. Genuinely feel like a lot of people love saying negative things in the hope they are right about it so they can say the called it. There is no quick fix to our current problems and anyone who thinks there is they are delusional serious change is needed. From manager to recruitment to player development and this is a promising step. So much doom and gloom and yes that is down to how we are playing but anyone thinking a new manager will instantly change our playing style and make  us a decent team over night need to wobble there heads. Were in transition and looking like were making moves to make sure we don't make the same mistakes we have constantly made in the past. Have a little faith and trust the process. Rome wasnt built in a day. This could be the first little step taking the club in the right direction but nobody can no for sure.

so why dont we just stop the criticism and negativity and try and get on board with what carol is trying to build here.

I don't slate anything. I'm always super supportive of the club. Whatever. I just don't think this will do us much good. I didn't spend ages slating Askey trying to drive him out either. Unlike your good self.

So does anyone know much about about Alex Morris? he came into the betting from nowhere,i know he is the Crewe u23 manager and responsible for bringing through a lot of their young players

Alex Morris - Backroom Staff - Crewe Alexandra

I have asked a couple of crew fans and they say

Excellent training sessions. Lots of good, technical routines. Great at developing and working with young players.

Can't really see him suiting the OAPs at Vale. Oh and that no way would he come to a circus like Vale(for that reason alone i want him 🙂 )

Something like this sounds really good mate but like u say we need to change the squad age a bit

is this another reason why we won’t play legge

To be fair we were a circus I trust carol to sort it out

I really cant see an experienced manager coming in(i could be wrong) i just dont see it,so out of the current betting you are looking at Murray and Morris, not sure who else we could be interested in

Tbh I wouldn’t want an experienced man now. It’s the perfect situation for a hungry young coach.

I wonder if Flitcroft is on a contract, or it's just a permanent role...

I’d hope it was the footballing equivalent of garlicks position. If we have a vision of what we want then it offers continuity.

Carol said explicitly in her interview that it will be Flitcroft's responsibility to "find the new manager and bring them on board."

I can't see how anyone other than him would know even the direction let alone the candidates in the frame from his perspective as he's only just come in and made no comments regarding it.

Could be anyone now, which is interesting.
