Crookes isn’t a full back

Is he a centre-back?

Bit of a monster isn’t he? Leggey and him would be pretty solid!

Montano and Cullen have both started following Hartley on Twitter.

With Cullen, them both being from the North East it could be a coincidence?

Certainly shouldn't be worried about getting out muscled!

I'm more interested in who he follows himself. Certainly likes his porn by the looks of it!

I doubt Monty following him is, though? Unless they’ve played together but I haven’t checked. People are saying he’s already signed and was at the club earlier this week.

Interesting interview on Hartley's thoughts about a new club. Not worried about is age, provided he's the best we can get for the money. If we are in for him coming from being Captain of the 3rd best team in Scotland you'd be hopeful he is still pretty useful. If it's true not sure how this one has come about as you wouldn't think Askey has scouted him out. He was offered a new contract prior to lockdown so he wouldn't have been a player expected to become available. I'd imagine he played with Montano at Bristol and Cullen at Blackpool, so wouldn't read anything into following players on twitter.

Reading that it sounds like t=he will fit into Carols ethos nicely

I see that someone (highly likely a WUM) has updated Peter Hartley's wiki page first thing morning to say his current club is Port Vale. I can't see this one happening I think he'd be on a lot more than we could offer.

Be one hell of a come down if it happens. March he was looking forward to captain a team in the Europa League versus the likes of AC Milan or Lazio. July looking at a raining Tuesday night playing Barrow away! Such are the vagaries of football outside the elite level.

But it's something of a buyer's market with all the financial uncertainties. Looks like he was released reluctantly by Motherwell purely due to finances. With that sort of thing happening, players are going to accept what they can, where they can. If you are him and a club like Vale have come in with an early offer, offering him some sort of security during uncertain times, would you accept it?

I don't think money would be an issue Motherwell had an average wage of £1,100 last season so we may be closer to his price range than we think plus as you say these are strange times indeed where money is concerned

I've noticed on his Wiki that at the age of 32 he hasn't got a promotion on his CV.

Perhaps the conversation was -  come to Vale Park and get a promotion before you retire.

Then there's obviously the fact that Vale and the people there are immensely impressive compared to previous seasons. .
