Looks like he signed for Salford as a prospect and was loaned out a lot where he had some success  (including 12 in 19 over two spells at Halifax)... my guess is that Salford can just afford the likes of Tom Elliot so no need to hold onto the prospect.
 

From these Early videos it looks like he can play through the middle or put wide in a 3.

He's not playing for Halifax in The National League playoffs because he has a definite offer somewhere else following his release by Salford. Stockport and Carlisle offered (allegedly) 15k for him in January but he wanted to move to Halifax, maybe to run his contract down. Stockport wanted him more as a winger whereas he wanted to be more central. Maybe he would be best in a 3 .... though its probably just another rumour 🤣🤣

Not sure where either would play. Sure we want another centreforward,  which isn't what these two are. We've got 3 wingers plus Rodney. Not sure either would really be good fits in midfield. Both are good players but not sure either fits well in our system. Both may have been spoken to as part of the process for signing Rodney. If we wanted a 10 they'd be great signings.

It'd depend how we set up, but based on last season I'd tend to agree.  I think the obvious would be looking at a more conventional forward as cover / replacement for The Pope, but who knows what JA's ideas are for the squad next season.  There's clearly a longer term plan when you look at the players who we have signed up beyond next season.

If "from the North" is cryptic then Cameron Burgess was born in Aberdeen and was at Scunthorpe. Would he really fit our budget though or be too pricey?

McCartan and Burgess would be a great signal of intent in my opinion!
