It’s a done deal

??? If Hartley is a done deal where is the confirmation mate?

I suspect it may well be a forward next. Askey has said they are likely to be snapped up quickly hence the signing of Rodney early doors.

Good shout Robert.

We also need 3x mids, 2x defenders and a backup keeper to replace the departed players.

I remain delusionally somewhat hopeful that as a result of the clubs excellent new reputation in football, and how he enjoyed it here last season and how he was looked after by the fans, Askey and Carol like with the car thing, that Jake Taylor coming back in not impossible.

You win the league with players like Jake Taylor.

Amoo/Taylor/Oyeleke/Worrall/Burgess is a promotion midfield.

We won't be signing that many new players. One defender who can play rightback, a keeper, a striker and maybe a midfield player is all Askey is planning. Maybe an Alex Hurst type of punt if one comes along.

We lost a centre half in Kennedy.

Brisley/Smith/Legge is not sufficient for 46 league games plus at least 5 cup games. Legge is 35. 3 centre halves is not enough, you need at least 4.

Taylor, Atkinson, Evans and Lloyd leaving leaves a lack of rotation and cover across the midfield. We have to be realistic in expecting Oyeleke to miss games with injury. Joycey is now 33 and it would be a mammoth effort for him to get through the season without needing rotation now and then. I would want to see two midfielders come in to cover, if one is Taylor I would lose my mind.

I'd be delighted to get Clark back to cover for RWB because it is unlikely Gibbo will get through an entire season without a suspension at some point. Clark would primarily also fight it out with Montano for LWB.

On that note, all the more reason for us to all be Forest fans on the final day when they play the shlt. Not only could they be sending them down, but Forest cementing a place in the Championship Play Offs is good for us as if they go up I would think the likelihood of Tayor being loaned out again would be relatively much higher.

1 x backup GK

1 x LB

1 x RB

1 x CB

1 (maybe 2) x CM

1 x CF

That would be my shopping list.

We have a 20 man squad currently, but will Hurst, Trickett-Smith and Campbell-Gordon be involved or go out on loan again?

Plus Pope, Legge and Joyce are in the twilight of their careers so won't be able to play every game as Doha mentioned.

Askey has said he'll use Crookes as a 4th centrehalf. I agree with your point about 4 centrehalves so the Crookes call is one of thebig calls the manager had to make. I suspect Gibbons and Smith signing new contracts hasn't come cheap in terms of wages.

Interesting that Askey also talked about Clark as a potential midfield player midweek. If he does return he may play the Joyce role for part of the season.

We will only get one midfield player. Taylor is less likely to sign than Clark. He's a good player BUT we used him pretty sparingly post Christmas when we had our best run of form. I think he's unlikely to sign as Forrest still have ambitions for him, whereas Leicester are already happy to ship Clark out. Having Rodney in the squad gives an option of dropping Worrall into a midfield role if we have injuries. Oyeleke, Burgess, Conlon, Joyce, Worrall and a. n. Other is a pretty good set of options - if Oyeleke stays fit.

It seems the plan for this year is a smaller squad. They've spent money keeping players, so that restricts the money for new signings. That's Askey's call which he will live or die over. We have 19 players under contract so it looks like we will try to get by with 23 next season.

Absolutely no chance of signing that many players, we've spent big on resigning players.

Yeah I agree, I’d like to think we’ll bring in a back up goalie, a full back (preferably Mitch Clark on loan), a midfield stopper and a big striker.

We don't have to spend big - these would be squad players.

What if Gibbo gets suspended?

What if Montano gets injured?

What if players get tired or suffer loss of form?

We absolutely need strengthening in those positions.

dunna werrit youth, arthurs got it covered im sure🕵️‍♀️
