What does that make it now, 16 or 17 years of crap windups on here? You need to see the district psychiatric nurse, Mark.

I would be amazed if a new striker was from morecambe,my guess is there could be a mix up as Mills played for morecambe a couple of seasons back and did well

Didn't know Tom Nichols was free, was a good young forward in League 2 and then went to Posh; started bright but injuries have held him back. Struggled at Rovers after moving for decent money, twice.

Any rumours regarding a goalkeeper yet ?

I can't find any information about him, he's a bit of a mystery. Looks like he was main used off the bench in the 80th minute last year

We've got pope Cullen and now Rodney do we go for another experienced striker surely with all the players been released there are a few available or do we get a youngster in from a championship or greedy league club

I'd personally like another semi-experienced centre forward with League experience. Maybe someone aged 23-28 with a modest goal record that Askey thinks would do well in our system.

Shame we couldn't compete with Bradford for Kurtis Guthrie as I think someone like him would be perfect for the way we play.

The one thing clubs haven't relaesed is really good strikers.

While there may not be many released I guess there could be better forwards who are out of contract and who have been offered contracts rather than being freed. I know Ollie Palmer is rumoured to be going elsewhere but he's an example - he's not released but he's a free agent as he hasn't agreed a new deal with Crawley yet.

So I wonder if Vale will be able to use that to their advantage?

Rather than get a "cast off" we could potentially compete with clubs who have offered their better players new deals. I suspect many are struggling financially right now so would a better wage and longer contract with a stable club like Vale be more enticing to them than staying with their existing club who may be in trouble financially?

Do we know what out of contract strikers have yet to agree a deal with their clubs? All I tend to see is the list of players released by the clubs rather than those waiting on contract offers.

On this list:

Andy Williams (I think hes also now released)

Joe Ironside

I think that's it. You've got a couple on here definitely released (Robinson, Matt). I think they'll go for a target man as Pope is almost certainly looking at a significant ban over his Twitter adventures at the start of the season.
