Match Thread - Port Vale v Tranmere

Asi didnt watch the first half as i was watching the shape of water on sky cinema i cannot make any comment on that but i can comment on second half as watched majority of it online .

I thought second half we looked more likely and were doing ok then the loss of the ball in midfield and the ball through and well finished by there striker .

Then the goal for Vale which i didnt see but heard it was a very beautifully crafted goal and well taken .

Then the offside goal which should have stood then the mad scramble off the line how we didnt score there i will never know .

Every game though giving the opposition a goal start ,it just puts us in a mess straight away .

Morecambe created very little but got a soft goal similar to our offside goal last night but theres wasnt given offside .

I read on sporting life goal attempts that Tranmere had 3 on target 2 goals .

Unfortunately when its going against you its going against you .

Askey well he is finding out what Aspin had to put up with .

Aspin was Vale through and through and we replaced him with a stoke supporter with a ex stoke player as his right hand man ,it all seems rather weird to me .

3 games 3 defeats says he isnt the man for the job but then who is ?

Who can change a losing football teams changing room into a winning one .

That takes great strong characters .

As most would agree on here, we played with six players (Rawlinson, Crookes, Kay, Conlon, Hannant and Clark) who are either inexperienced at this level, not good enough for this level or too old for this level. Brown should have done better with the first goal. For the first 60 minutes all we did was lump it up to Pope, just a dire and totally predictable tactic, and the ball just kept coming back at us. Smith defends OK but his heading is absolutely appalling, rarely goes to a Vale player. That leaves Gibbons and Whitfield who I would excuse from any criticism.

Askey needs to bite the bullet and play either Legge and Howkins instead of Rawlinson who was shocking, and go 4-4-2 as we finished last night. Worrall and Montano need to play also in place of Hannant and Clark.

I'd keep Crookes in at left back although he needs to improve his crossing. Hopefully Manny will be back in place of Conlon and we'll just have to put up with Kay.

Agree with much of what you say but I thought that was a little harsh on Brown, the shot moved a lot and he got a good strong hand on it. He needed some help from his centre halves following it in, unfortunately they were too busy appealing offside. For me it stemmed from the left with Clark allowing their lad to come inside totally unchallenged and get a shot away. An avoidable goal, as most against us seem to be.

What at stupid post.

How do you know Vale were gonna get relegated under Aspin, no you didn't ask for more of the same but what happens if it is the same or even bleadin' worse. Vale are on a faster downward spiral now, 3 bleadin' losses in 3 games, players and manager with no confidence.

You asked for a new manager there is always a chance it can be the same or worse.

The phrase, "Be careful what you ask for" has never been more pertinent than in this case.

Not sure who you refer to as ‘you’. Fans asked for change. We haven’t had change.

If I got to a restaurant and my meals cold, and I ask for a new plate of food. Is it my fault for asking if they hand back the same plate of food that the chef has dipped his dong in.

And if you’re going to put this on the fans then it would have happened much earlier when there was a chance to do something in the transfer window.

Then he simply won’t bring him on. I can’t understand Legge agreeing to go on bench knowing he’s not getting on at all for the rest of the season.

Maybe because to do otherwise would be making himself unavailable and thus liable to fines.

I'm desperately clinging to hope that we start getting a bit of luck and a few wins, because at the moment it feels like a perfect storm of inexperienced players, experienced players unavailable for strange reasons or out of form, a panic-appointment manager and utter turmoil behind the scenes.

That's before we even get to this absolutely vile chairman. Utterly nasty piece of work who has surprised me with his vindictiveness.

I'm not sure of the exact circumstances but I think NS doesn't want Legge to be starting because it would trigger this 12 month extension but Legge can come on as a sub. and it wouldn't count. That would explain it, wouldn't it?

We can argue over odd players but in general most of us are in agreement that we perhaps need to go 4.4.2 and give a few lads a rest from the heat of the kitchen. Some of the less experienced ones are beginning to feel the pressure I think and need a rest.

Something like this for me:

Brown

Gibbons Legge Howkins Crookes.

Worrall Oyeleke Joyce/Kay Monty

Pope and Harris/Miller/Whitfield.

Unless we start scoring we're doomed.

He has inherited a garbage squad born from years of lack of investment with what must be extremely low morale and confidence but Askey doesn’t seem up for it, simply not good enough to turn us around. He will leave in 3 months time and Smurf won’t have to pay out a settlement but we will almost certainly be playing none league football next season.

And there is the issue! what manager would want to come in with the pair of clowns running the club on a short term contract??? The extensive search amounted to just 1 willing candidate for that job and a man that is well and truly about as qualified as all of us on here to run a league 2 club in a relegation fight BIG TIME!

Sad times and way too much short sightedness from those in charge!

Any appearance sub or not should count unless in his contract it says 25 starts. Anyone looked at his stats for this season? I remember he came on as sub at Colchester.

23 league starts + 1 league substitute appearance = 24 league appearances

1 FA Cup + 1 EFL Cup start = 2 cup appearances

So if 25 is the magic number he is either two starts or one start/substitute appearance away from reaching that figure.

Well start with Rawlinson and bring him on after 5 mins not rocket science is it?

Anything is better than keep playing Rawlinson for the full match.
