Match Thread - Port Vale v Lincoln City

On measured reflection, what's actually more concerning is there will now be another twenty managers in the league who, if they didn't know before will sure as hell know now exactly what our weaknesses are and what they need to do to exploit tem.

We aren't exactly the biggest of teams at the best of times are we, and any good opposition manager would already take that into consideration when planning their tactics, but thanks to ifollow, the gift that keeps giving, and now with instant access to a full 90 minute video of yesterdays debacle, they have a gold embossed manual on the best way to maul us to pieces and I fear in all the coming games that we are on the cusp of an aerial bombardment not witnessed since the blitz!

Having now forced myself to watch the goals again, somehow, they actually looked even worse than they did live and makes one seriously question what the hell does Aspo actually do with the players in training these days, because it's quite evident what he doesn't!

Thing is Lincoln scored ten goals but only one was really down to quality. Occys strike.

They’ve scored six from free kicks/corners where they’ve had an unchallenged finish from close range, one from a defensive slip, one from a penalty and one from a dodgy back pass. They must think Vale Park is Lapland the gifts they’ve had.

Interestingly some of the balls were not that great but we’ve just not done basics. Notably the two games Pope has missed are these two Lincoln ties... did we lack that experience and height in the box? Seems so!

I'm reaching the point where I don't think Smith is ever going to be good enough on a consistent basis.

He's had his excuses in prior seasons, but this year he has Scott Brown behind him and Leon Legge next to him, and he was bullied in both the MK and Lincoln games.

People point to him marking the more 'physical' of the forwards, but thats what strikers are like at our level. Look at Popey. If he can't hack it, then there isn't really a place for him in the side.

His loss of his man for the 5th (I think) is borderline criminal.

He's played 103 league games for Port Vale, and we've won 26 of them. Its obviously not his fault, but I don't know how much longer we can justify a place to a lad who is routinely getting dominated, and part of a very, very unsuccessful Port Vale team.

No excuse for Aspins negative selection which included four men that have been playing their last few games at full back. Clarke and Pugh might have been listed as wide men, but they were there to bolster the defence to the detriment of the attack.

The usually woeful attack force was even more woeful due to the defencive set up.

But three of the players who would normally be amongst the first on the playing sheet, Pope, Manny and Montano are all injured.

When these three are fully fit the team will be a much better outfit.

Don’t agree. Having a **** chairman dosent mean he has to make awful team selections week in week out. Have shocking tactics and be unable to organise a side. He’s not up to league management.

I never said they were mutually exclusive.

Listen to what I’m saying... I agree and now don’t think that Aspin is the right man for the job.

But, solving that problem is NOTHING compared to the sh*t storm that would remain at Port a vale under stewardship of a man who cares more about making sure he doesn’t lose on this deal tha. He does about the club.

Say we get rid of Aspin... who would we get on wages less than Gateshead and Macclesfield are paying. Go look at the favourites for the Macc Job... that’s a team who are paying more for the managers role than we do. If that doesn’t terrify you then nothing will!!!!!

Norman will happily leave Port Vale to tick along with insufficient investment in the hope we sell a few more youth teamers and a miracle occurs where we stumble across another gem. He will take this money and pay himself back until all he is owed is £1.4m which is what the club is actually worth. Then, and only then will he sell the club for £1.4m so he can look himself in the mirror, smirk and say “I NEVER LOSE”

And if anyone says “but Norman, you bled a family, community club to death to do it” ... he will just brush it off ... he will deny that it was his stupid decisions that caused the demise, he will say vale fans are stupid and don’t understand the world of real money, he will happily look his family in the face and say he was right and we were wrong... because he DOESNT GIVE A F*CK about Port Vale.

Come on lads and lasses, we are all numb still after yesterday and emotions are high.

But this is a new low on here, firstly Aspin called scum and now Smurf wished dead.

Astonishing and disgraceful.

I am not on here that much but I would agree and add the following:

1. We moderate restrospectively so if offensive comments are on here which we haven't deleted please let myself or the admin team know. We will remove as soon as we are informed but due to the high speed of traffic we can miss things.

2. Anyone guilty of remarks such as those mentioned will be banned, permanently and for life. And in fact if there is anything even vaguely resembling death threads then I will phone the police myself with the user's information.

3. This is football people. Yes, it was an embarrassing result and the club may be in dire trouble but can we please maintain some perspective on things. If you can't agree with this and break the rules, you will be banned.

Finally - I do not have the time to read entire threads but if anyone can PM me with ANY offensive posts I will delete them and ban the poster(s).

Thanks,

Rob

I’m even more alarmed Given that interview. Dosent take any blame himself. He needs to walk, I don’t see how you can’t walk after a 6-2 home defeat. Have some decency aspin and move on. There’s been way too many errors this season to come close to being a football league manager. Not even brown made this many errors.

He wont walk because if he does he wont get paid but if he is sacked his contract will be paid up so that is why norman wont sack him and aspin wont walk and port vale just happens to be piggy in the middle national league awaits us.just my opinion for what it's worth.

Emotions aside it is glaringly obvious that Aspin's mad formation yesterday aided a good Licoln Team to completely thrash us. OK the vast majority of the squad were out of sorts for whatever reason again but anyone with a modicum of sense will see that our manager is out of his depth and unable to change a frightened, negative approach to games.
