Leon Legge and Connell Rawlinson sign up

Here we go. Let's not panic about new signing our first, second, third choice, then we can sign someone of the calibre of Tyrone Barnett on a 2 year deal 'cos Ebbsfleet got in first.

Seriously, Legge, Brown and Joyce have been snapped up early because if you snooze, you lose. The better strikers won't still be available in July.

The better strikers won't sign unless we show some intent with some better players. Any striker who can score 15 goals can afford to take their time ... because they 100% know they will have a job come September.

You are unimpressed with the signings of Joyce,Legge and Brown mmmm really,i think personally you are after a reaction, either that or you have flipped

No not Brown or Joyce. Legge and Rawlinson yes. Joyce and Brown are about par for what we should be looking for.

Are you impressed with the other signings? Or are we just picking out this one?

One which you say isn’t aspin or rudges fault for some reason? Even though they’ve been scouting the lad since January. It’s clear they’ve seen something hence why we’ve gone for him.

I’m also struggling to see how it would be our greatest feat in history? We’re signing decent players and actually already had some decent players if we can get some forwards I’d certainly be expecting us to at least be pushing the play offs.

We just finished 1 point off conference football and although as earlier said the former two signings were good but my initial criticisms of Legge and Rawlinson were that they are not of the standard to drag us away from that.

Rawlinson last played an English league professional level game 8 years ago and Legge, although a great player a few years back, is an injury liability and has been released from a team who finished 12th in league 2.

When we last got promoted from league 2 we had a lot of players who had league 2 experience or better such as Lee Hughes, Griffith, Taylor, Purse, Myrie-Williams, Pope, Shuker, Birchall, even Calvin Andrew had played at a much higher level.

This squad has very little proven ability in league 2 or above. The guys that do, namely Pugh and Tonge are has beens. In fact , Tonge has been proven as not good enough for league 2 after being dreadful at Stevenage.

Pope and Worrall are the only guys who have played well in league 2 to date. Brown and Luke Joyce should be good enough to succeed.

Brown, kay, pugh, tonge, worrall, montano, smith, brown, legge and joyce all proven at this level or above, having said that i would like to see the back of tonge and pugh

I disagree about Legge being an injury liability as i think this shoulder injury is the only long term one he had so i think thats unfair

It might do you some good to read that TJH. Then at least you might have some understanding of how things work and maybe that will ease your frustrations a bit. Unless you still believe West Ham just paid Preston £10m and then Preston just gave us £1.9m just like that

I guess Smurfwaite won’t be getting his yacht this summer.

It isn’t about belief. If it was I certainly don’t have any of that as far as club money is concerned. Nobody, after the Smurf meeting could honestly believe any of that money will enhance the squad.

My belief is irrelevant. All I want to see is a better squad and what is coming in, isn’t good enough given the windfall we have had. Regardless of if that is paid tomorrow or over 5 years. There was also the Alnwick and Grant money too.

Either people are happy with it and think the investment is ok, or they can scrutinise it and ask why a club that was promoted 5 years or so ago with a team full of proven league 2 players or above, can no longer stretch to that.

We all know the answer.

Tonge and Pugh are proven all right. Proven rubbish.

Smith had an awful season and isn’t proven at league 2 for me.

Kay, yes but was awful early last season

Worrall, Pope etc all mentioned. Great players

Okay, so if we finish top half next season, you will do what? Let's get a bet on then!

I'm getting so sick, on the verge of angry, of all this pessimism, it beggars belief!

Agreed! And judging by the signings so far, Aspin agrees with that as well!

The rusty relics in CM, will not play a very big part, if any! Smith will play, but will now have actual competition and actual help, from Legge!

A “let’s stay in league 2 and finish 12th” season would be utterly unacceptable to me.

Is it promotion or nothing for you?

Realistically we may not get out of this division next season. We’re coming off the back of a relegation and a skin of our teeth survival and we’re having to rebuild a squad again.

Other teams may be in a better position than us with the squad they already have and we’re playing catch up.

We’ll do well to turn it around so quickly, to go from bottom 6 to top 6 in a season, I don’t think it will be that easy. I hope I’m wrong of course but I’m not getting my hopes up yet.

I still can't get over the fact Brown actually handed virtual 2 year deals to 3 players all 34+!

I could possibly understand 1 of Kay, Pugh and Tonge but not all 3 of them:sad:

But wouldn’t give Eagles and Bikey decent deals.

They would have been enough to give us a chance of winning a few games.

TJH Valiant is right i wonder if the bookies willhave us as favourites to go down if so use the Paul Hurst (Shrewsbury manager )psychology of writing on the team formation black board or dressing room .

We are crap .

Now get out there and prove the critics wrong .

U dont give 2 year contracts to players who should be winding down there careers and possibly looking for new ways of earning a living .

Last year was dreadful ,seriously we need a new team where they come from im not fussed but as long as they all love each other and be a one for PVFC then we might be successful .

Last years team were so quiet most of them didnt speak to one another i wouldnt be to unhappy c bar Pope Montano Hannant them all go elsewhere.

Smurf has the money from Hugill now he either invests it in the team or we will be non league in 12 months unless Aspo becomes Harry Houdini.

The new signing will ne judged on what tbey do for PVFC there pasts are irrelevant to me .

As for the contracted ones i expect a thousand times better level of performance ,attitude and application .

If your not capable then hand in a transfer request or go work elsewhere

Sky Bet have got us finishing about 6th from bottom next season and, I think, 6/1 for promotion. I'm surprised anyone's offering odds so far ahead of the season with so much transfer business to be done but I'm not a betting man so I wouldn't really know. What does interest me about the bookies' odds is how they view our chances because it's pure business to them with no emotional influence.

They obviously don't see us improving much but think we should survive, it'll be interesting to see if their opinion changes as we make more signings.

Personally although I'd love us to turn into a promotion side my realistic expectation is for a significant improvement on last season. I'd like more than a solid mid table finish but I'd live with it as Aspo rebuilds from one of our worst squads ever.

Brown, Joyce and legge all have exactly what you’ve mentioned. It’s been 3 weeks since we finished. A lot that you mention had higher experience, Griff? The likes of Andrew had the odd game and the others Baring JMW were way past their best. For me if we’re signing from the above their either not good enough for that league or the past it re tongue and Pugh. I’m more than happy with the signings so far. It’s a good mix of experienced and chancers.
