Maybe too late but being a member of the EU for so many years has killed our manufacturing industry.

You've only got to look at what they've done to our fishing industry and they are slowly trying to increase the volume of EU law on our financial services through majority voting.

What is wrong with democratic voting based on population? Do you want a system where Cyprus for instance can veto 26 other countries? The biggest problem with our fishing industry is that we give the largest portions of our quota to foreign factory ships, most of our catch is exported, most of the fish we eat is imported. As the sea warms fish move their feeding grounds and so are in the wrong place is a problem for the future.

And did you believe him. Are you saying that coming out of the EU would safeguard the steel, car industry etc.

I find it hard to believe most things he says

He did however in 2016 predict staying in the EU would wreck steel production

No,the biggest problem with our fishing industry is the EU.Britain used to enjoy fishing areas that extended up to 200 miles from our coast.Since we joined the EU, this distance was reduced to just 12 miles. From 1998 our fish landings have declined by 19% to 756,000 tonnes in 2014,and we have lost access to fishing sales that would otherwise now be worth £2 billion a year.

The world moves on as do the fish.

Absolute nonsense, successive UK governments have killed our industries with lack of investment. German, French, Spanish industries have fared better than ours. And in case you did not realise they are in the EU.

It's largely globalisation that has affected our manufacturing industry, but a lot of factors come into play, including the destruction of whole communities in the eighties, problems with trade unions in the seventies and a lack of forward planning and investment by employers since the war. I don't think any of our successive governments have ever planned anything long term or properly invested in our infrastructure.

I find it very odd that we don't have our own mass car production any more. Yet the French, Italian and Germans, to name but three, manage to do so.

But the question is: what is best for us now? What's gone has gone.

And with the best part of half our exports and imports to and from the EU does it really make economic sense to ditch all that and pretend that we can replace it by going it alone in a world that is dominated by the likes of the USA and China, trading rivals remember not allies? It strikes me as madness and a leap in the dark that simply isn't worth the risk.

My real fear is that if we crash out and end up in another downward economic spiral on top of ten years of austerity then the future will be very bleak to say the least.

Your mate Farage was supposed to be on the Fishing committee to stick up for British rights but CBA to turn up. The UK is the only country to have sold half its fishing rights. Some are foriegn owned and the rest are in the hands of a couple of rich families. More stupidity from the Tories

Nothing to do with that lazy ******* Farage who’s good at slagging people off but does **** all to make people’s lives any better because he prefers the company of Trump and Putin.

Which bit about the UK selling their fishing rights to other countries in the EU don’t you understand?

Of course it’s to do with the EU but our elected representatives can’t be ******* bothered to do a days work that they are paid for what use is that?
