Once again. Praise and Grumble. One Stoke caller after another. All saying the same thing. Heard Ray Williams ONCE, right at the start. I just cannot believe there isn't a single Vale or Crewe fan calling. Enough of this bias.

h

there was one on about 1750ish then they cut him off "sorry your braking up" we'll go back to mike pegic, then with 2mins to go "here's another vale fan" well that's it for this week, merry Christmas to you all...

Just back with plenty of time to think about the result driving home through the Essex countryside. The Vale played really well today, particularly the second half where it was us looking like the team playing for a promotion spot, and we deserved to win.

The first half was very even and we started well with a good chance for Worrall in the first few minutes. At the back, the enforced changes seemed to have affected us a bit and Davis, to say the least, looked very wobbly at right back. But we held them well until the liner decided not to raise his flag for what looked a clear offside.

The second half was a different story as we dominated play for long periods, had a Smith header cleared off the line, a Pope header onto the bar and a shot by Kay inches wide. Aspo's genius substitutions really worked well with Pope and Barnet causing plenty of problems and Denton's cross (probably his first touch) headed in by Harness who'd been moved in to the middle.

This was great team effort with the lads really supporting each other and closing down Colchester so quickly they had difficulty bringing any pattern to their play. Aspo's given the credit to the players but he's really transforming this bunch of previous no-hopers into a good side. On this showing, there's only one way we're going and that's up the table.

Well done, Aspo and the lads.

So Vale fans and Ray Williams have had less time on P&G than the travel reports...

I think RS were expecting more praise than grumble tonight from Sjoke fans but it didn't quite work out like that. The majority of calls were still negative but their excuse would be that only Sjoke fans rang in?

That's the usual excuse. Personally I don't believe it.

That was a great performance and we could easily have won it. Their local radio guys were full of praise for Vale and said we were probably the best team they'd seen there all season. Four points from these last two away games have been the least Vale have deserved and have set up the Boxing Day visit of Coventry a treat. I hope the team's efforts are rewarded with a good crowd and great support then.

Sorry to say I'm still away on Christmas holiday so missed another great away game. I'll be there in spirit Boxing Day lads so please another 3 points. I will be back after that and am being invited to hospitality at Notts County New year's day so look forward to telling a few County fans that we are emulating them and will join them next season in Division 1. Great result, started off well for a change with Worrall unlucky not to score in the first couple of minutes.

Their goal was miles offside and Boot was not to blame at all.

Could have won it in the end with the header that hit the bar although they hit the bar as well.

Pleased with the point, another 4 points from the next two home games would be nice.
