The Stoke City Topic Thread: Relegation? Staying up? Manager? Empty seats

Match of the Day will not be the same next season. Great.

... at least they were first on MotD on Saturday, and couldn't complain about being last on... though I'm sure they would have preferred not to have been first this time! Oh well, never mind lads, at least you made the Black and White half of the city very happy.

Lambert has finished 15th in his last 2 Championship seasons.

The entire squad needs an overhaul. Scholes and Cartwright thought Berahino for 12m and Wimmer for 18m were good deals.

If they retain the above 3, I think we're in for another enjoyable season.

Wimmer will be sold I would imagine and Berahino loaned out to whoever will have him. The way Lambert is talking I think the 2.5 year deal may have come with an option to get rid of him at the end of the season, so my gut felling is there will be a new manager in for next season.

I think they got Lambert in with the view for next season in the Championship. Keep him and he should keep Stoke up, get rid and Stoke could go down again if they don’t get the right person in. Michael Brown would be a good replacement.

They have had ten good years in which they have continually had no real major lows so welcome to the real world where your team disappoints you regularly and unhappiness becomes a habit .

I know my workmate reads this as he reads the Vale forums regularly ,he is a genuine always being there supporting stoke fan so i sympathise with him and many lifelong friends but the ones who jumped on the bandwagon i do not .

Let see how loyal you are now my message to them is .

Lots of banter between the two sides over all my lifetime and unfortunately due to our low achieving players we have had years of endless lows .

Be nice see a thread where our supporters are so enjoying watching us that we /us cannot wait to attend .

To have 4000 loyal fans when we have had to endure the low performance levels is testament to what our fans can be put through yet still go .

Remember stoke have had 28 thousand fans these last 10 years turning up ,to watch the best the league has to offer .

The biggest problem they have is if only 18 thousand turn upand high earners refuse to leave the club and bleed them dry .

i heard Jese was on 75 grand a week ,really thats 70 grand a week to much .

They are in big trouble especially if Coatesis getting grief as he is the mainstay of that club without him they are only slightly bigger than the likes of Notts forest .

Butland out in the press today directly slagging off the club's recruitment process (so basically Cartwright and Scholes).

So not only is his definitely off, but there's further confirmation that the club is an absolute shambles. Banging.

I keep seeing people talk about how good in the Premier League has been 'for the city'. Can anyone give an example of what benefits Stoke on Trent has seen by having a mid-table Premier League club for a decade?

I haven't read it in full by the way I just googled it before you challenge me directly!!

I would say the biggest impact will be the loss of jobs from the club itself, plus any downsizing of the community team which in fairness do a really good job with various projects up and down the city.

I guess if you got rid of Tony Scholes' salary that would cover all of those losses...I hope he stays though he is doing a sterling job!

Well maybe when I say I’m from Stoke On Trent and they reply I know Stoke City I get really pissed off. I am not from Stoke City but Stoke On Trent home of the pottery industry, like Wedgwood and Royal Doulton, home of Reginald Mitchell not some place where poxy bunch of inbreds who wear red and white shirts with their bellies hanging out. They offer very little to the local economy other than the local pubs on a match day and some hotel rooms booked up by away fans but they will still have the business no matter what division Stoke are in, in fact they may get more as they will play more games the lower they go.

Shares in Co-op Lard have soared due the fat buckers not renewing STs.The only sufferers ,as TP pointed out, will be the club itself.Bail out time returns to Sjoke City.

Ah. The community team.

The community that the Coates care so much about.

The community team funded by the money from Sky no doubt.

If the Coates care so much about our community I suggest they do not let this suffer at all.

Lets see them support the community team first and foremost

Then they can support the manager and team with however much money is leftover.

Its a bit like how Stoke never want to put the match day prices up /

season ticket prices up. " Our loyal fans deserve so much "

Lets wait for next season hey. !!

Pegging season ticket prices, issuing free shirts to kids, free travel, its easy when you are given millions.

If they didn't do all of this the players would only have more £

How does it affect the City's economical future ?Stoke have had 10 years in the Prem and I haven't noticed an upturn in Stoke on Trents fortune.

The immediate loss is £50 million at least. The loss of TV and other rights v the payment made to relegated teams. So that is at least £50 million going out of the Stoke on Trent economy.
