This is delightful news. I for one think it would be a terribly warm idea for sets of supporters from both city clubs to meet in Hanley post-match for a festive meet-up. Wetherspoons for the pissheads and Hanley library for the rest ' date=' with a free Greggs sausage roll or festive tart, tea/coffee available.[/quote']

The festive tart sounds nice whoever she is.

Change the word meet to tear and you could be right!

Usual Vale one step forward, two steps back approach. We are a professional club and consequently ALL parts should be open. This penny pinching attitude is something that really sticks in my craw.

We need to have something for the fans to moan about and an excuse for some not to attend.

Wonder what Kenty thinks?

Well im surprised that we r playing at home on the same day as Stoke but im quite happy about it as working all that weekend and like a home league game ill get up and go as work permanent nights so it suits me .

As for closing two stands that makes sense and maybe a good idea for one game is give the lorne street to Yeovil and let the Vale fans in the acoustic away end .

Id certainly go in there as went in when Vale legends played Stokes Legends as lorne street was sold out .

Utv get behind hem who knows we may fet lucky and get a good draw if wego ,get behind them and they manage win .

I doubt this would ever be allowed as the away fans could be kettled.

Above all, this move says "small-time".

Rather than say "Let's do our damnedest to fill the Bycars and get a crowd in for the FA Cup", this is simply accepting we'll have a poor crowd.

Would we fill it, using some imaginative promotion of the cheap tickets? Who knows? Will we even try? Not a chance. As if that is something that can't possibly be addressed and is not worth our efforts in trying to improve upon.

To the younger generation this may sound like a lie, but not too many years ago, home FA Cup ties were generally larger than league games. Clubs negative attitude to the competition has reduced gates accordingly. If only the powers that be shared your vision.

This is key shopping day pre Christmas. Whilst I would never choose to do anything but attend on a Saturday many will go shopping.

The reality is this is a traditionally a very poor attendance Saturday in the football calendar.

If it was £2 quid to get in we would struggle to get 5000 in.

The closure of the bycars could improve the atmosphere.

All those loud singers from the bycars joining us in the Railway. More likely they will join the “mad cap crew” in Lorne Street.
