More facts transfer profits John Williams

150%, Paul Smith 230%, Steve Guppy 240%,Andy Jones 1150%, Ian Taylor 2400%. Promoting local talent Mark Bright, Robbie Earle, Andy Porter, Ant Gardner. Only two of those went on to play for England not really good enough is it! To steal a line from the Scottish national anthem "when will we see your like again"

You're dodging giving a clear answer. Are you saying that Horton is the greatest manager in living memory? And that rudge wasn't a very good manager. Just so I can get your dosage right.

I think my point is quite clear. Rudge achieved less than he should with the players he had, particularly post 1992. Horton did well with less. Comparing them is pointless because the entire landscape of the club changed in that time.

Our success was built on established talent

Do you have any idea what you are talking about? The established players in his first handful of seasons were the ones rudgie brought in and developed or came in on a free or very cheap. He only laid good money once he started making it.

Er, yeah, right, Ian Taylor was well established as a non league player when Rudgie took him on and turned him in to a Premiership player. The ignorance of facts on here is embarrassing.

That's an individual case, you cretin. And Taylor was with us for a short time. Glover, Foyle, Aspin, Bogie, Kerr, Cross, Swan, Hill, Naylor, Slaven all had proven pedigree and cost good money on the whole. They were our spine.

Players he brought in and developed for gods sake. Isn't that a managers job? You are actually arguing that rudge was a poor manager, and your reasoning is that we need to discount one of the main qualities in a manager, the ability to build a quality squad. But you still refuse to answer the question. It's not a case of comparing, its a simple question. Who is the greatest vale manager in living memory seeing as rudge wasn't very good.

Taylor was bought for a couple of grand and sold for £1m. Rudgie repeated this sort of performance time and again. You need a history lesson.

After years of making good money for the club! A huge profit in fact.

Try looking at the players he had to bring in during the first season. Alan Webb, ally brown, etc. Every single player on a free. The first two promotions were on the back of jones, Earle and beckford firing us to the top of the league. the players that kickstarted his wheeling and dealing.

How much was foyle sold for? Glover? Aspin?

And the money we made post Taylor was on players we paid a lot for, like guppy, McCarthy and ainsworth. Something no manager since has had the luxury of.
