Red Card Tonge

Badgerspaws

Recommended Posts

During his rather strange post match interview on 2nd September, Michael Brown stated that the club had received a written communication from the Football League apologising for the issue of a red card to Michael Tonge stating it was the wrong decision. If this is so, how is it that the 3 game ban was not lifted?

Probably the same way Brown thought the team played well on Saturday with 2 or 3 up front in his after game chat. The FA have probably said it was a red card and Brown read it as not a red card.

If the FA have said it was not a red card, then they would have allowed Tonge to play, instead he is still side lined for another 2 games. Very strange going ons at Vale Park.

There's no way it can be true. I still think it was a red card and it's no different to the multiple red cards you see given each week for similar tackles. His leg was straight, studs first and knee height. Whether he meant it, or made contact doesn't matter.

Most likely in my opinion is that the club have misunderstood what was meant in whatever the communication has been.

Agreed. I've only seen it on video but it's a clear red card IMO.

The letter probably read "I'm sorry your player committed a foul worthy of a red card".
