Norman Smurthwaite whatever you think of him Is not the Devil. Yes he made mistakes. He is a human. Imagine it was your dad that people were abusing and threatening constantly would you think twice then?

It is sad that people abuse Smurf and use bad language in messages about him, but the truth should not, and is not witheld about the shocking way that he has abused our club.

People like Smurthwaite should not be in any busines because he does not know how to treat customers or how to be fair in financial matters.

I don't see how people can post here crying about some of the 'abuse' Smurf rightly gets. The guy has been taking the **** out of us for a while now, and despite this "abuse" he's apparently getting, he's more than likely sitting somewhere on his ********** ****** ****** right now having a good laugh at us.

All of the abuse that Smurf gets is deserved. The guy is so moronic it's actually unbelievable at times. How many times has he come out saying he is going to sit in the background and stay off social media; wasn't he posting on here last night? Unfortunately, his position at the club is now untenable and even the diehards are getting tired of listening to the same old mistakes being made constantly. Unless the guy sells up and leaves, we are in for a very long ride. Special mention to his daughter as well who tries to wind up fans on social media looking for people to bite on purpose. Grow up duck.

I am not a double account. I am a Vale fan like you and many others. As I don't agree with your comments I'm a wind up? This is a forum after all so everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Duffy lacked pace however had a good footballing brain. Our centre halfs were head and shoulders better.

McGivern - I don't need to compare him to anyone. My dog could player better football.

Dodds - he had a great shot I'll agree but far too inconsistent. De Freitas, Eagles, Thomas were overall better this season.

AJ - he was okay but very narrow minded we could only play one upfront and he was too small to head. Him and Reg share the same quality of player in my opinion.

Ultimately let's be honest, these players above are struggling in their new found teams, so why on earth do you get to skate our current crop vs the old when in actual fact we have better now?

Disagree on your assessment of some players. Dodds scored 10 goals for us in his last season , more than Thomas, Eagles and Defretais combined.

Admitted AJ has had a poor season with Shrewsbury but didn't he score approx 15 goals for us. That's where he differs massively from Reggie , he scores goals.

As regards we have better now , isn't it in your words the better players who got us relegated this season . Seem to remember last years worse players got us to 12th.

Appreciate everyone has an opinion but the table doesn't lie.

With the back drop of all the abuse and threats which l ignore l read this and it make me really sad

I am so sorry and wish things would of been different for us both

I have written on here before on a number of occasions that I find threats and abusive comments abhorrent. No matter how passionate we are about Port Vale no one should ever resort to that type of communication. If you are a true Port Vale fan do not do it. Follow the Ghandi principle of protest which is by fare the best model.

On the other hand I urge Mr Smurthwaite to recognise that there is significant angst around uncertainty of financial information which seems to be getting in the way of a sale. It has been suggested that some of the high salaries to our lesser players (Chris Mbamba for one) will have some kind of payment back to agents/Chairman/third parties. It has also been suggested that some of the commercial income has been lifted then put back in as a director's loan.

The former Chairman ought to realise that full and frank disclosure of information around these concerns over finance and selling price would remove much of the ammunition of the abusers. He should also realise that his relationship with the majority of supporters is broken beyond repair, not because we have been relegated but because of the way we have been misled.

The former Chairman should realise that his statement following the Synectics bid raises a whole raft of questions and cause further deep suspicions. I am left to wonder as to the identity of the sleeping partners in the Kevin Jones bid and wonder how close to Mr Smurthwaite these "partners" are.

I firmly believe that Norman Smurthwaite has no intention of selling Port Vale, despite what he says publicly.

I don't think this is any more than a tactical retreat. He is waiting for it to all blow over. He is naïve.
