Well if SMURF is leaving then a hell of a lot of people will be happy and if it's a hedge fund group who are taking over then the same folk will still have something to post about as they seem only happy if they have something to moan about.

People seem hung up on selling out to a hedge fund. I doubt any decent hedge fund would pay £6 million for something worth far less, how will they make a profit? It could be a group of hedge fund managers who between them have more money than sense and want a plaything. I understand from what was said previously about them, that they wanted Smurthwaite to stay on for 12 months to oversee running the club, I would hope they would have the good sense to employ someone else to do that for them. So if a group of investors from America want to put their own money into PVFC and let qualified people run the club, then let them and see what happens.

Or in the case of the Norwegians, a group of people who see footballers as commodities that they move around from club to club within their network until they get a price they're happy with.

 

Either way not great. As you have said previously, wouldn't it be nice to have someone who ran the club to break even (Or crazily make a profit), whilst successfully managing the expectations of the fans who basically just want affordable football at a decent level with the odd splash of success.

 

Nobody is realistically asking the Vale to be challenging for the Champions League spots in the next five years. Just some care and stability would be more than enough.

Not sure how true but i heard that they had a CEO lined up who is respected in football. Also the Millwall Chairman knows them so i cant see it being Cala or the other chap.

 

I hope i am right in this but i really think this could be a good thing despite hedge funds bad press

Why would a hedge fund group buy the Vale? Wheres the return ? Especially if Smurthwaite keeps the ground, even if he sell it lock stock and barrel wheres the profit wheres the growth ?
