Slightly baffling. Why has Santos waited 4 months to get a chance, gets a chance, now decides he wants to leave? Whether he is up to it or not, fact is he was our number 1 until Alnwick gets better.

 

Agree mate, although I'd guess he was a Bruno signing so it's to do with that but like you say slightly baffling now he was likely to get a chance in a league game to up and leave? If every player left a club each time the manager who signed them left or got sacked football would a bigger mess than it already is!lol Doesn't say a lot for the lads staying power, oh well! Unless Brown has clearly intimated he doesn't rate him, who knows?

 

As Yukon says 4 keepers was a bit excessive(5 with Johnson out on loan as well), as Rob says surely we can recall Boot as was only short term at Macc and he's barely played(I've been impressed with him in the odd friendly I've seen him)?

As was Santos.. GK is the least of our worries.. good to get him off the books.

 

It isn't the least of our worries though is it? Currently we are looking at going into a game on Saturday with 2 fit goalkeepers, neither of whom have ever played a league match.

I think this is the first of many departures, why we are signing second or third rate foreign players is beyond me. Amazing really when Arsenel have just paid 40k for a lad who was playing for Market Drayton a while back! Good scouting when players on your own doorstep are overlooked.

I think 'mess' and 'shambles' are a bit harsh but it's certainly strange for the reasons Santa states. If Alnwick is going to be out for a while as initially reported and we have 2 keepers out on loan(1 can be recalled), and the other is a first year pro who hasn't even played mens football on loan has he? Why let Santos go?

I'm sure all will be revealed though? If the lad has come in said he doesn't like Vale/Brown/playing in England? I suppose it's harsh to stand in his way!

Could this be start of Smurf's Plan B? A cull of all the deadwood signed when Bruno was in charge? Could it be that the rumoured plan only to give the Bruno signings until January to prove themselves was indeed in place? As Bruno has now gone could Brown/Smurf be telling certain players that they are having contracts cancelled "by mutual consent" and that we will in the next few days see more outgoings at Vale? Is this not what most of us wanted? The experiment of foreign players did not work so Bruno and others may be going? If so then we would have room and cash to now spend on decent replacements. We live in hope.
