Premiership 16/17 Season

Recommended Posts

I would say they are. Their link to Unicef is a point towards that. They do have a long list on their website of schools they work with. I worked for a charity that leaned more towards help 16-25 year olds with employability skills and the MU Foundation (And FC United interestingly) were also involved in the same field.

I think they spread their net far and wide and so it may not necessarily be 100% towards children in the local area. City have come in and are trying to fill gaps in provision as well and I think what they are doing on their campus is exciting and will be very fulfilling. Lots of organisations fighting to help the same groups of people is good in a lot of ways. Compared to some areas of England (Scotland is well geared and funded for this sort of thing) Manchester is a beacon of Corporate & Social Responsibility, particularly by their football clubs.

Do you have any dealings with FC United? Now there's a club that are looking to serve the local community. I never had any time for them whatsoever (in a footballing sense) but I come away from meetings with them totally humbled. Football sessions for survivors of torture, free breakfast club for the entire community during summer, buddying up supporters with lonely elderly locals, sessions where the elderly can just turn up and reminisce about sport, getting kids with LDs to help in the kiosks, free places at their summer schools for poorer children... It's the kind of thing that I'd like to see Vale trying to do, and that I imagine that Synectics would maybe be up for trying too.

I was based in Manchester but my role was national so I didn't do much in the way of local development. I know we did things with FC United and the people from our side who dealt with FC United were thoroughly impressed with the setup (I also have little time for them as a football club).

I also would want any new owner to push for community development. Looks like Synectics are keen on that also.

Very good signing for City early doors in Silva from Monaco. Next season there midfield and strike force could look something like B Silva, D. Silva, Gundogan, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Jesus ad Augero, with Sane and Sterling used in the main as impact players. That's pretty scary.

So the season finishes with Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal winning silverware. Liverpool fans still somehow managing to keep a straight face when they say finishing above Man Utd and Arsenal in the league is a better season than winning the League Cup, FA Cup or Europa Cup.

Only *********** even bother to make such comparisons. Klopp set out to achieve a top 4 finish this season and he managed to do that, despite having by far the lowest net spend of all the top clubs last season. Seems like that hurts you pretty bad, which is no surprise.

Don't worry, Jesus loves you still.

I apologise, I did forget about Liverpool winning the 'we had the lowest net spend Cup'. I always thought football was about winning stuff, Now it is about who can sell the most flops in one go!

United have had a more successful season.... 2 trophies won and qualified for the group stages of the champions league.

United's season hinged mainly on one game, and fortunately for them they were playing a massively inexperienced Ajax side who aren't anything but bang average, and so they got the job done which I give credit for.

At the end of the day not too many United fans would ever dream they would finish behind Liverpool in the league this season when they signed the likes of Pogba, Mkhitaryan and Ibrahimovic. Fact.

Spend the amount of money they did and I don't see how you can be happy winning two almost pointless trophies and finishing behind 5 other clubs in the most important competition they were competing in this season. Oh how the mighty have truly fallen.

United are on a recovery program, their first target was to get back in to the champions league to enable them to sign the top players. Will be interesting now Liverpool and Man United are both in the champions league to see who they both buy. I would place Sanchez at the top of any list of players I'd want to buy.

Bang average? You mustnt watch a lot of football. See where those "bang average" players are in two/three years, most are already being scouted by Bayern munich and real madrid.

You don't get to the final by being bang average, Inexperienced yes but they are quality.

Utd did a number on them, got their tactics and personnel spot on.
