I respect the views of most on here bar a couple of ****s and believe this is where some have got it wrong but that's their choice. The root cause s Smurf. He pulls the strings, agrees signings etc and hamstrings Page in my view. Same last year with 2 budgets after cheap options had signed

A few came on Sunday who haven't been of late, great game and performance other than the photo shoot with away fans and then this . for the 3rd season we are being asked to invest in the unknown.

Total ****

For me Bon'Ami my personal 'investment' is known - PVFC, and whilst all that is happening is frustrating my response is to buy a ST to save Port Vale.

Yeh, I know, we walk upside down "Downunder - and it is 45C (113F) outside as I write :D

Bless me, never a dull day in the Hamil eh!

Whatever the truth is in this latest Smurf episode, and whether he stays or goes, I will still be buying a ST - not for Norm, not for any potential new owner(s), but for Port Vale F.C

Like most Valiants I want PVFC to survive as a FL club, and whilst some may say the Aussie sun has finally got to me I believe we should reverse protest this time i.e. we step up and invest in a ST to show we care for our 'Club

Forget about owners - they come and go; forget about managers and players - they come and go; but remember always Port Vale F.C. because once its gone - its gone.

How many times, including Valiants, have fans across the land fought to protect a collective lifetime of personal, emotional and financial investment in 'their football club' from those who are 'here today, gone tomorrow'.

Once again dear friends it's in our hands to fight and protect our football club, but differently than last time :)

Its different with Norman though Barry.

With Bill Bratt we had the stupid businessman. Him and his army fleecing what they can out of the football club until the inevitable administration comes.

Norman is dangerous.

A clever businessman.

He sees what he wants and he gets it.

In the next few weeks Synetics Solutions will be announced as the new owners.

He stays holding the commercial side of the business.

He hasnt been lumping in his own money.

Your season ticket money. GTC money. All going back into the club with Norman declaring its his money.

Watch this space as to the new owners Barry.

The man has a masterplan.

Yeas, I think you're right Paul. In a bizarre way Smurf reminds me of Br'er Rabbit - relying on his wits to beat opponents.

It's a dilemma I know, but right now I'm looking for solutions to the problem, and in that regard I know I'm not a lone voice.

He hasnt put 2m of his own money in.

That money is revenue from the commercial side, which he owns.

I was told this by 4 different people at christmas. One who is very close to the club.

He is having supporters pants down with his lies. Think about it. Nothing adds up. Never has.

Its all part of his plan.

He will get found out.

I just hope intervention happens before we have no club and he and Synetics Solutions (new owners) have all the land.

At least I'm glad that you have now seen the light ST in regard of our 'Mr Wonderful' owner. I have never believed his fairy stories about his cash input. Also what you said Mellor I wish the same had been true.

You could be right. Norman could be following the Coventry business model in reverse.

Where he owns the land, stadium, club shop and catering.

Leaving the new owners with only ticket money as an income.

If this is the case lets hope Symantec or whoever take over have the cash to be able to run the team and look for a new venue in the future.

It would be a pointless gesture to protest by not attending, this wouldn't effect Norman in the slightest, only effecting the new owners.

If this were the case I would not be buying merchandise or anything where Norman would benefit.

I don't enjoy making this comment but if what you say in this post is accurate then I would advise any interested party to tell Mr Smurthwaite where to stick his deal. If it is the truth of the matter that he intends to hold on to the ground and commercial income them then any prospective 'owner' would have to continually keep pumping money into the club because the commercial income is vital to clubs outside of the Premier league. ''I love the Vale'' has been one of the present owner's many comments but once again this latest action points to a liar.

I certainly wouldn't be surprised if that was the plan I have not believed for one minute that he has been pumping 80 thousand of his own money in on a regular basis. The lack of money for players when we lost some high earners at the end of last year didn't seem logical. I certainly don't trust him he's spotted an opportunity somewhere.

Agree with most,Smurfs p.r skills are crap,he should be trying to build the buzz after Saturday.but decides the true facts are the best way forward. He said he is in confidenciel talk with prospective buyer who have paid for exclusive rights.then said that budget is related to ticket sales, which is what most sensible fans want, they say the truth hurts, bad timing,I'll still be getting mine as will usual 2,5k, keep the faith

This is a tough one. The only part that really scares me is the £800k figure. I fully agree certain players need to take pay cuts. We have some that still steal a wage in my opinion and will struggle to find league one football elsewhere. We also have some high earners like Streete and Neal who boost the wage budget without playing. Few sides in this division have squad sizes like ours and filling it with kids and also-rans is not the way forward. Maybe we do need a hardcore squad of 18 players but it all comes down the quality. How many players have we used this season not including one off appearances from the likes of Campion and Neal? Can't be many over 22-23? Would it be so bad to have a smaller squad perhaps filled in with loan players? If Smurf hadn't have come out with that big figure I'd have believed this was the way forward. Problem is that sounds likea huge amount.

Absolutely spot-on. I wish a few more on here would understand that.

As far as I know he said it "could" be £800k, not that it will be.

There certainly seem to be plenty on here who think they know what the future holds.

A properly-orchestrated "Back the Boys" campaign is needed to get the ST-sales buzz going, and I would hope that Raj Atwal has got something planned for that. We've been excellent at home this season, and we need to make sure everyone knows it!

And Smithie the 800k quoted is reported to be 1/3 of this season's budget. So the budget this season has been 2.4 million. Not too shabby.1.6m ,possibly, is reasonably competitive at this level. The budget ,if Smurf sells, will be up to new owners. The wait and see policy over buying STs by some fans is ,quite frankly ,pathetic.
