Difficult game, they always are. Dodds was good and Duffy some average performances from most but we are in round 2 and that's what counts

Duffy, Dodds, AJ and McGivern all did well but we really need to pass to feet more. Still well done and on to Chesterfield.

1-3, well played Vale. Good recovery against a feisty non-league side. The guard of honour at the end for their players and manager was a nice touch. Thought the win disguised a multitude of weaknesses though - the worst of which was to hoof it forward at every opportunity. Judging by AJ's post match account of the half time team talk, it's no wonder that we're devoid of ideas. Anyway, we're through so roll on Exeter.

Not too good - thought his positional play was poor and he gave away possession too much for my liking. By that time, the game was won though.

 

I can't understand why Page doesn't give JJ a chance - the lad must more than a bit down hearted when he isn't even considered good enough for ten minutes against a non-league side. He can't have done any worse than Uche.

Awful amateur performance for the first 30 or so minutes. Once we scored we were better and settled into the game. Hopefully AJ's sudden burst of goals will continue as it should certainly boost his confidence. Main downside is Page's continued refusal to give JJ a chance, even in a game against a team at the level he's used to, when we have a comfortable lead.
