We made hard work of that, grateful for Dodds/Smith. But we are through.

Relieved isn't the word but alas we made it to the 2nd round with a better 2nd half performance. If we get to round 3 what would be the likelihood of Newcastle Utd. Why you ask?

1st round, Maidenhead Utd, play in B&W stripes nicknamed the Magpies

2nd Round, Exeter City who play at St James park.

3rd Round, Newcastle Utd who play, wear and have that Nickname...

The connection would probably be a 1st?

Well played Maidenhead thought u were terrific .

Where was our midfield most of that match ?

Dodds and AJ were excellent at 3_1 up though where was the confidence to pass the ball to one another

On 85 mins there player should have scored a free header over the bar ,if that deservedly goes on in I wonder if we would have held out .

Grant Moore and O'connor were very poor apart from O'connors goal and a header which was tipped just over ,at no time did we have any control of that area very alarming .

We won and AJ was very good ,Dodds and Foley very good aswell ,Duffy also but the rest come on surely u better than that .

We through though so happy about that !!

Awful amateur performance for the first 30 or so minutes. Once we scored we were better and settled into the game. Hopefully AJ's sudden burst of goals will continue as it should certainly boost his confidence. Main downside is Page's continued refusal to give JJ a chance, even in a game against a team at the level he's used to, when we have a comfortable lead.

Totally agree. The equaliser seemed to knock the wind out of their sails. But that first 30 minutes, we were truly shocking.

The defending for their goal was quite similar in a way to the equaliser in the first game. Panic stations and players not doing their jobs. Corporal Jones defending.

thought we were comfortable once we equalised. Ajay could have had 5 if not for some good saves by their keeper. 0'Connor was close to a second and Foley had a couple of good efforts. Dicko must be livid for a booking for their player diving when he hadn't been touched. Roll on for the next 2 home games and onto the next round a week on Saturday.

Duffy, Dodds, AJ and McGivern all did well but we really need to pass to feet more. Still well done and on to Chesterfield.

McGivern was awful!! He won a few challenges but these days there's so much more to being a CB. He continuously hoofed (and dicko) and with no big man up it came back everytime. People say how we played good football at the start of the season..two words..Remi Streete. We have a decent midfield which is rendered useless when its constantly bypassed. Anyhow rant over.

Poor performance on a difficult pitch but just about created enough to edge through.

Duffy star man for me. Followed by McGivern. Dodds did ok and played a couple of sublime balls to create chances for Foley and AJ. Full backs both had poor games. AJ took his goals well so should boost his confidence.

Have to say the tactics, particularly first half, were poor and the usual unimaginative substitutions took all impetus out of our second half.

Make it on a Sunday for the highlight cameras

Lucky that AJ was on the pitch according to Page, was considering subbing at 1-1

Slow start by the Vale but after we scored their keeper made three excellent saves to keep it at 1-1 at HT. Difference in the 2nd half was Dodds who produced some quality. The two CB's, O'Connor and Grant were terrific and AJL''s two goals were well taken. Well done RP and Smurf. Couldn't believe the early callers on P&G, what does it take to make some people happy.
