1.25 million is reasonable for 5 acres of land and a 46.000 so ft building. Petrol station is a bit of a liability though.

If there had been any left when it closed I'm sure Belly would have had it siphoned off into his yard next door.

Going on abt smurf buying land....i know a football team who play at Bradeley, and they told me last week that smurf has brought the 2 pitches inside the fences and changing rooms, and he's stopped playing on a Saturday.

Why he's brought them is anyone's guess.

Now l have to be careful when replying to something stated that compares to something you stand in with an unpleasant smell

Also as it ends up in The Sentinel

That said the new Port Vale in the Community Charity will be leasing Bradeley from SCC and all existing commitments will continue to be met

Always happy to qualify stuff you do not want to get on the bottom of your shoe

I remember port vale selling the land! I think we wasted it on a few players!

When vale sold the land in the 70s I understood it was with the condition that they could still use the car park, also not sure they spent money on players but one of those moments the money kept the club going

I though we sold it for £95k and it was what kept us from going under. When we sold it it was all black ash with great big holes every where and there was a bit of a split level where the front of the Co Op build is. Kids used to ride bikes over the area do jumps over the split level. Also it was used for AWAY COACHES - which could lead to a different area of Vale being given to the away fans . Vale Fans in both Hamil and Bycars and give part of the Railway to away fans -

Would it be a good idea to re- open the access from Bycars Rd to bring away coaches up Scotia Rd & give them the Bycars end? They could park the coaches behind the stand, & exit through Dollys Lane up to High Lane thus avoiding the town, Hamilton Rd, loads of policing etc. not sure if the land around the old Normid area had anything to do with the road being closed in the first place.

I'd say the police would view it as a bottleneck, and would be more trouble than the existing away fan arrangements.

Was it the 70s ? I thought it was more like the early 60s and we spent much of the money on Albert Cheesebourgh and Billy Bingham ! And I don't recall it being as much as £95k but it was a long timeago a bit of senility creeping in my memory maybe.

Dunno about exactly when it was sold but they didn't build the Normid till the 70s. The petrol station used to sell the cheapest petrol in North Staffs - 78p a gallon. I started driving in 1977 and it had been built then.
