Recommended Posts

Off twitter last night :

Would like to thank @CEO4TAG for his hospitality today.A Chairman who is still grounded considering his success.A fabulous quote l will not forget. To eat in his Boardroom is to eat in his home.Valiants l am beginning to understand the benchmarks required for our progression.

I have know been to 3 Lge1 Playoffs, although each year sitting nearer to the front row l now need to acquire the squad to sit in 1st row

Maybe they give the chairmen of the relegated teams the front row seats out of sympathy?? How he can cut the budget and expect a promotion side is absurd.

Equally how could he give us a top 6 budget and we just stave off relegation this season and Swindle have a similar budget this season to our budget next season and reach the PO Final - equally absurd.

Money doesn't always guarantee success, better more dedicated players do that.

Would you rather he mortgage us up to the hilt and end us up in administration again?

We get all excited by these quotes...then we see Birchall in midfield.. Bubble gets burst quickly.

If Birchall signs a new deal he will be nothing more than a squad player

I just hope Smrf realises now that we have to bring in some quality signings if we are to progress where he wants us to be

Yes he has said that Page will only get 1.7m but do you believe that?? He said after last season that we were going to sign conference players and kids to start last season, did we?? i actually think if smurf knows what he wants then the money will be there on top of the budget:yes:

I think the Swindon v Preston game showed the issues with having too much youth and inexperience in a squad. When it really mattered they were overwhelmed by the occasion and fell at the final hurdle.

Indeed. Smurthwaite can make all the comments he wants about "acquiring a play-offs squad" but when he has a manager that plays Ben bleeding Williamson up front week-in week-out, leaves Remie Streete sat on the bench for up to a month before actually playing him, and decides on the most ludicrous retained list in recent memory (irrespective of how much is being offered - even £100\week for some of them would be a waste of money and better used elsewhere), then Smurthwaite might as well order his play-off final ticket for next year on the back row again!

Lets hope that he is going to put those words into action. The first part is to keep hold of your best players and not keep the least talented. As 40 yarder says 'interesting'?
I don't care if I get 100 - comments on here because what I say is the truth and sometimes the truth hurts. Look at Preston's forward line which will have cost more alone than our total budget. They say money doesn't guarantee success but without money in football you get nowhere I'm sorry to say.

If Smurf hasn't or isn't prepared to put the funds in that's fine it's his wallet and his decision but please, please stop telling us that he can get us to the Championship because it will never happen on cut budgets. Sadly money rules football.
